Sigma has announced three new lenses for Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-mount cameras. The three lenses are part of their Art line, which are generally prime lenses with wide maximum apertures, providing sharp, high-contrast images. In the case of these three lenses for mirrorless cameras, the generalization holds true.
The 19mm, 30mm and 60mm lenses all have a maximum aperture of f/2.8, with fast and smooth autofocus and optimized optical designs to ensure even light transmission and minimized aberrations. The 60mm lens also features an optimized power distribution system that enhances edge-to-edge sharpness.

The silver and black 19mm f/2.8 DN lenses for Micro Four Thirds cameras provide a 35mm focal length equivalent of 38mm, and the 19mm f/2.8 DN lens for Sony E-mount (NEX), also available in silver and black) have a 28.5mm equivalency. Both versions have a minimum focus distance of 7.9” and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:7.4. They are designed with three glass-molded aspherical lenses to provide correction for distortion and color aberrations, and the lens elements are coated with Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating to reduce flare and ghosting. An inner focusing system maintains image quality and operates efficiently, and the linear autofocus motor moves the lens elements directly without the need for gears or the drive of other mechanical parts. This is not only accurate and fast, but performs smoothly and silently, which makes it ideal when using this lens to capture video.
The Sigma 30mm f/2.8 DN lens is replacing the earlier version of its 30mm f/2.8 for mirrorless cameras, and is also available as a Micro Four Thirds mount in black and silver. A Sony E-mount lens in black and silver is also available. On the Micro Four Thirds mount, its 35mm focal-length equivalency is 60mm, and on the Sony E-mount, it is 45mm. Like the 19mm lens above, the 30mm f/2.8 has a newly designed linear AF motor, inner focusing system, and is built with two glass-molded aspherical elements, including one double-sided aspherical lens for improved aberration correction. Super Multi-Layer Coating provides even light transmission for reduced flare and ghosting and its telecentric optical design improves image quality throughout the frame and allows the lens to be compact and lightweight. Unlike the earlier edition, this 30mm f/2.8 has a metal exterior for durability and good looks.
Like the two lenses above, the Sigma 60mm f/2.8 is an Art line lens that is available in black and silver as a Micro Four Thirds mount and also in black and silver as a Sony E-mount lens. The Micro Four Thirds mount has a 35mm focal length equivalent of 120mm, and for the Sony E-mount, the equivalency is 90mm. Both of these focal lengths can be considered medium telephoto and portrait lengths, and with the f/2.8 maximum aperture, they are very solid low-light performers and will provide shallow depth of field images. Their rounded seven-blade diaphragm is well suited to selective focus applications and for producing attractive out-of-focus quality. Like the other lenses, they are designed with glass-molded aspherical elements, but also feature Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass for increased sharpness and chromatic aberration reduction. They, too, have an inner focus system and utilize the linear AF motor for smooth, quiet and fast autofocusing. The minimum focus distance on the 60mm f/2.8 is 19.7”.
All three of the lenses are compact for their focal lengths and built with specially coated brass bayonet mounts for greater accuracy and long-lasting durability.
