Superior Image Quality
Friendly Focal Length, Fast Design
The 35mm focal length is one of the most versatile single focal lengths available. Offering a standard wide-angle field of view, this lens is suitable for a broad range of subjects from landscapes to portraits to street scenes. Coupled with a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens excels in a variety of lighting conditions, too. Also, the fast design helps to achieve a shallow depth of field for selective focus effects.
Evolved Optics and Bokeh
Second-generation 35mm f/1.4 sees a completely designed optical layout that achieves greater resolution and higher clarity than the previous version.
New lens design incorporates four aspherical elements and two SLD elements to suppress various spherical and chromatic aberrations for high sharpness, low distortion, and accurate colors.
By correcting chromatic aberrations, the design also contributes to cleaner, smoother bokeh quality. Additionally, an 11-blade rounded diaphragm maintains rounded out-of-focus highlights and an overall clean, natural image quality.
This lens also features a newly developed AAC (Advanced Amorphous Coating), which includes a low-refractive-index amorphous layer that greatly reduces flare, surface reflections, and ghosting for impressive contrast and color fidelity.
Dual HLA-Driven AF
A combination of high-speed, nimble focusing performance and updated optics makes this lens suitable for everything from still photography to fast-paced videography.
A high-thrust dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) quickly moves the focusing group for fast focus switching and nimble tracking of fast-moving subjects.
A floating focus system maintains consistent sharpness throughout the focusing range, from 11" to infinity.
The updated optical design and optimized focus group placement also help to reduce focus breathing for a consistent angle of view while changing focus, helping to produce natural-looking focus pulls when recording video.
Portable Design, Updated Operability
Smaller, Lighter, and Durable
Thanks to more efficient mechanical and optical designs, this version II lens is 14% smaller and 20% lighter than its predecessor—this lens is 3.75" long and weighs 1.2 lb, compared to the previous-generation lens that is 4.4" long and weighs 1.4 lb.
Dust- and splash-resistant seals for reliability in inclement weather conditions.
The front element features a water- and oil-repellant coating that is especially easy to clean.
Intuitive Handling
Manual aperture ring for direct control over exposure settings. This aperture ring can also be de-clicked for smooth, silent iris switching.
Two separate AFL buttons make it easy to control focus position while tracking subjects. These buttons can also be assigned to control additional functions via the camera menu.
Focus mode switch changes between AF and MF operation.
Included petal-type lens hood has a locking mechanism for a more secure attachment.

Sharpest 35MM i ever used, fast to focus, great bokeh. Cannot recommend enough.
I sincerely do not see a reason to choose native lens at this point. Sigma has nailed it!
Highly corrected, razor sharp

I’ve shot a few hundred images with this new Sigma 35mm and it’s pretty much exactly what I wanted: a compact, highly corrected, clinically sharp lens that focuses quickly, silently, and accurately on my A1 II. It’s easy to carry around and the body and lens combo can slide into a bag I originally purchased years ago for the Sony RX1R, making for a very capable walk around and travel combo. I will say that this lens is exceedingly transparent, with that “through a window” quality of some of the finest of Fuji’s GFX lenses. Aberrations, including LoCA, are very highly controlled. But it is not a lens of “character,” if that’s important to you. Often what people consider character in a lens are uncorrected or technically imperfect aspects of the design. Here, apart from mild vignetting, you get nothing but clarity. That suits me for what I wanted—I can add some character in post if necessary and I value the transparency. But others may find this lens almost too clinical, too perfect, if that’s possible. Overall, awesome work by Sigma especially at this price point.
