Breaking Down Shure's New Axient Digital PSM Wireless Monitoring System

10/22/2024Link0

Shure, one of the widely recognized leaders in wireless audio for live sound and events, has redefined onstage monitoring with the new Axient Digital PSM, an advanced in-ear wireless monitoring system born from the company’s flagship Axient Digital wireless audio franchise. Designed for monitor engineers, RF engineers, and rental houses, Axient Digital PSM ensures mission-critical signal stability while delivering balanced, precise stereo monitor mixes for every performer. This system is tailored for high-profile productions that require flawless execution even in challenging RF environments.

The Axient Digital PSM line includes the ADTQ Quad four-channel digital wireless stereo transmitter, the ADTD Dual, a two-channel variant, and the ADXR digital wireless stereo bodypack receiver. Also part of the ecosystem is the AD8C eight-port antenna combiner, AD221 two-way passive antenna combiner/splitter, and the SBC441 four-bay docking charger for bodypacks.

Zero Tolerance for Failure

To ensure reliable RF performance worldwide, Axient Digital PSM introduces groundbreaking features, including a wide 184 MHz tuning range to cover more cities and events on tour, and WMAS technology for enhanced spectral efficiency and scalability in channel count. The system's Spatial Diversity transmission defends against multipath interference and True Digital Diversity improves signal reception and range. Additionally, four distinct Transmission Modes allow for performance optimization tailored to specific environments and needs.

Four Transmission Modes:

  • Multichannel Wideband: With Shure WMAS, each ADTQ transmitter can handle up to four stereo audio channels.
  • Narrowband: Traditional mode offers more RF output power for a greater range.
  • Analog FM: Hybrid technology with virtually zero latency.
  • Axient Digital Standard: Converts the ADTQ into a standard AD-Series Axient Digital transmitter for long-distance wireless audio.

Pristine Digital Sound and Secure Transmission

Featuring both analog and digital inputs (AES3, AES67, Dante), Axient Digital PSM offers exceptional stereo separation and pristine, clear audio with digital transmission latency as low as 2.9 milliseconds. Its encrypted RF transmission guarantees secure and reliable performance for every use case.

Flexible Command and Control

Axient Digital PSM brings a new level of management and flexibility to your entire in-ear monitor workflow. ShowLink technology offers engineers real-time, remote management of all ADXR bodypack parameters, ensuring seamless performance adjustments from the mix position. CueMode allows engineers to store up to 64 encrypted stage mixes and switch between them on a single pack. Additionally, Shure Wireless Workbench provides networked control for extended and enhanced RF monitoring and management for complex productions.
