Providing both flash and continuous lighting to Nikon cameras, the GiSTEQ Flashmate II Ringflash is useful for illuminating subjects in both stills and video. The unit utilizes 100 5mm LEDs rated at a high CRI of >95 Ra for excellent color rendering. Also, with a guide number of 1.6' at ISO 100 and an effective range of 4.9' with its 45° angle of coverage, the flash is well-suited for close-up and macro applications.
Benefitting users of multi-flash setups or shooting with mixed light, the LEDs are rated at a color temperature of 5500K ±200K which is close to daylight and similar to many other flash units. The Flashmate II also has options for full or half modes, which mean only the left or right LEDs will light up when activated. This output can be further adjusted through the use of three settings for brightness.
Additional options with this unit include the ability to work with certain flash triggers for off camera setup. The flash will also light up when the shutter is half-pressed for use as an AF-assist lamp. Additionally, the unit can be mounted on either the power unit or directly onto the camera's lens using one of the eight included adapter rings from 49-77mm.
