Before buying this lens, I spent some time thinking about what I was missing from my collection of lenses:
- 50 mm/f1.8
- kit 18-55mm
- 55-250mm
My biggest frustration was that I didn't have a lens that could take in more of the shot, but was still prime. I liked walking around with the 50mm lens, b/c it's so small, but i often had to back up to get the shots I wanted. I did some research, and decided that this would be a good lens to try out.
I love it! I basically haven't taken it off my camera since I got it. It takes gorgeous photos. The auto-focus noise is a bit annoying when it's quiet, and sometimes the focus lock doesn't work properly (ie: it tried to refocus when i recompose after half-pressing the shutter to lock the focus), but given it's price and the quality of photos, it's way more than worth it. Buy this lens, you won't regret it!

I ordered this lens to shoot weddings with. Well the auto focus is a little too slow for all that. But I do like the lens. It's a fun toy to play around with and it works well in low light situations.

Comments about Canon Wide Angle EF 28mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
Sharpness is ok (but not great) and fairly even over the frame on APS-C. Strong vignetting until about f/4.0. Overall, not better IQ than what you get from some middle of the road zooms. But if 28mm is all you need, you can't beat the price. Mine had some problems with the mount (very hard to get on and off the camera) and would not quite reach infinity on my T2i.

This lens is not going to do phenomenal things as far as shooting landscapes, but if you want something that goes wider and takes in more light, like you would for most gatherings of people, then this lens is perfect!

I like this lens for the fact it is a great lightweight wide angle lens. I love taking landscape and portrait photos. The motor is loud, but for the price you cannot beat this lens.

I wanted a normal view prime lens for my 450d and this 28mm canon lens fits it perfectly. The autofocus is good and I am not bothered at all with the slight noise it makes.

Comments about Canon Wide Angle EF 28mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
Just what I was looking for. I hava a 50mm f/1.8 lens and that is a sharp lens, but a little long on a crop camera inside my house. But this 28mm (44mm) on a crop is just right. You can't go wrong with this lens. Buy it you won't be sorry.Reasonable at [$], but I would of liked it better at $199.00.

Comments about Canon Wide Angle EF 28mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
I ordered this lens because the second-hand sigma zoom I have been using finally gave up the ghost. I started my own mobile portrait business after working for a few other studios a few months ago and need something that is tack-sharp and wide enough that I can get medium groups in. This fit the bill and the budget. Is the focus loud? a little. Is it comparable to L glass? Not really. Does it take tack-sharp pix? Yes.

i found this lens very usefull for daily use, as the old cameras that came with a static normal lens. it's lightweight and i can make a good portaraits with it as a good landscapes and architecture photography. it is a good choice for a good quality and sharp edges without distortions as the zoom lenses does.

Comments about Canon Wide Angle EF 28mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
I primarily use the lens for landscape and portrait type shots. I love the color quality from it and the durability that is a little better than the 50mm 1.8 that I own. I think the only thing it is lacking is a wider depth of field, but that's what is expected at 2.8. I love the lens! Great product!

Comments about Canon Wide Angle EF 28mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
After getting used to this lens not having zoom and needing to set up really close to the subject, the results are great.
I was ready to get a whole new DSLR because of poorly focused shots. It was the lens, not the camera that was at fault.

This is a great lens, but do not purchase if you are looking for a wide angle lens. After mounting it to my camera I could barely tell a difference in the field of view, in fact it did not seem to be a wide angle lens at all.

needed something wider than the 50mm 1.8 for indoor pictures of my newborn son, while this lens is not as fast as the 50mm, it's far better than the kit 18-55 lens on my canon t2i
for the price it's a great addition to my EF collection, wide enough on a crop sensor.

i use this for filming. on the canon 5d is not much of a crop lens from the 50mm. only difference is, everything is in focus due to the lens being a wide angle. poor in low lights
