The Remote Extension Handle for Sony FS5/FS5M2 Camera from SHAPE is a variable-length adjustable handle designed to reposition the FS5 or FS5M2's remote grip away from the camera while retaining full remote functionality. The handle easily mounts to the FS5/FS5M2 using an ARRI style rosette connection and knob screw on one side, and a native Sony grip connection on the other. An included male to female LANC extension cable connects the remote grip to the camera body, maintaining full functionality after relocation.
The arm itself features SHAPE's patented push-button release which allows the joint to be rotated a full 360° to any required angle. Compact for both storage and travel, the arm measures just 5.6" when folded and may be increased to a maximum length of 11" for use. A length adjustment range of 2" is also provided to the user for a more customized and comfortable fit.

I spent 45 minutes chatting with customer service about a $10 cable! B & H sent me the wrong size cable. It was some cheap off-brand little cable that was thrown in the box last minute. Not even SHAPE brand. When talked with customer service they gave me the run around. I asked for them to send me the original cable that comes with it but still have not been able to get anyone to assist me. Then I requested a return and still have not heard back from B & H. Will a manager please contact me.

I like the look and feel of the shape handle but it has two serious drawbacks. The first is that the four screws that attach the arm to the camera come loose constantly, so you need to tighten them up several times during a day's shooting. This gets very annoying. The second issue is that the arm has an extremely limited extension length - I am by no means a giant, at 5'10, but I am not able to extend my arm fully. So I need to spend all day with my arm folded in an uncomfortable position. This is far from ideal and is actually a pretty ridiculous design flaw if you ask me.

Hello Chris, Thank you for your question! This unit will not fit on the FX9. We do have a remote extension that was designed for the FX9 which you can find here: https://www.shapewlb.com/sony-fx9-remote-extension-kit
You can attach it on the ARRI rosette on the side of the camera. This will require you to disassemble the factory extension unit from Sony and insert the lower part including the handle into our unit with its push button system. Once you install this extension, you can't put the handle back in it's original place without taking the rosette off, Correct?
Hi Juan, It is not possible to put the original handle back without taking off the rosette. The remote extension was made to fit ARRI rosette standards. For the moment, it is the only solution we offer, but you can be sure that we will work on it.

Is the sony handle side also rosetted?
No, and this is definitely a negative on this item. To use this extension you have to mount a connector to the camera. This connector has to be removed with a screw driver if you want to mount the sony handle right back on the camera. So you can't go quickly from sony to extension and back without tools.
