I use this regularly with a c-stand and short boom pole to hold a Mic for home studio recording, and on video/film set with close ups where the talent doesn't move and it works incredibly well... you'll want more than one.

I use the D230 - Super Clamp Grip Head by Avenger any time that I need to clamp a light modifier to anything. This thing clamps on anything and holds fast - period.
One use for me is between a light stand and a Photoflex TELESCOPIC LITEDISC HOLDER - PHLDHT to hold a lower reflector up for doing butterfly or horizontal split lighting when I am using the top lightstand lug for an upper holder.

This is a great grip head - you can use it as a plain super clamp or you can use it with a grip head attached - super cool!

I had occasion to set up a "bridge" for lighting a small concert recently and used this clamp to mount a mic on a short boom to the bridge along with the lights. It's really versatile, and of course it separates into two pieces so it gives you an additional super clamp when needed.

Comments about Avenger Super Clamp Grip Head:
This is a Manfrotto super clam and Avenger grip head in one piece, but the angle of grip head in relation to the clamp is different from the combination of a super clamp and an extension arm. If you take two pieces of the latter combination and combine, you get too many knobs in wrong orientations that interfere and not easy to control, and there will be a stud held in place by friction that slides down all the time. If you want to hang an extension arm on post (like Manfrotto Autopole), use this one with a Manfrotto boom arm, and don't try to save a few bucks by buying super clamp and extension arm separately.

This thing is a great deal. You get a Super Clamp and a Grip Head all in one. It's very handy holding almost any light modifier or flash you can think of. I need about a dozen more.
