The Avenger/Manfrotto E300 5/8" diameter stud screws to the top of a light stand, or a stud that ends in a male 1/4-20" thread. It lengthens and "beefs up" an existing fixture mount.

It's a real stud. A great workhorse for mounting your grip and lighting gear. This little guy is true to it's name. Solid and strong, as all "studs" should be!

Use it to mount Rosco Lite Pads to C-stands. Work just as well as they could.

I needed it in order to affix my softbox to an unused tripod and it fits like a glove.

This stud turns a long-unused monopod into a very handy and convenient light stand I use often when shooting on location. Screw the stud on the monopod, mount the strobe light to the stud, and my assistant can position the light easily.

Comments about Avenger E300 5/8" Stud with 1/4-20" Female Thread:
I recently bought a new Impact florecent light head which has a 5/8" mount. My existing stands only had the smaller style studs. While the new head would lock down on the small stud it was not ideal. With the E300 5/8" Stud the head attaches much better and more securely to the stand. Just what I needed!

I used this to build an inexpensive lighting rig with three 5600k CFL bulbs, a $35 umbrella from B&H and a 3 bulb holder from [...] Attach the stud to an old tripod and the 3 bulb holder to the stud, insert the umbrella in the [...] bulb holder, screw in the 3 CFL bulds and voila.

I bulit a light and used the baby pin to connect the light to my c-stand. It's super light weight, but it feels strong.

I've found many uses for them over the years, the most recent of which is as a wall mount for my backdrop pole. I anchored two 1/4"-20 toggle bolts to my studio wall (turned backward to leave an inch of threads protruding), put on a couple of fender washers to keep them from crushing the wallboard, then screwed on these studs. I have a small space and every square foot counts, so two fewer stands to hold up a backdrop makes a big difference.

Very convenient by allowing me to use one of my many threaded 1/4" camera tripods to mount lighting that fits a 5/8" stud.
