The EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM employs Canon's famous rear-focus telephoto optical design that delivers outstanding picture quality throughout its entire focusing range. Like its high-end siblings, this lens also uses two ultra-low dispersion glass elements to ensure maximum image sharpness and accurate color fidelity. Canon's advanced ultrasonic focusing motor & rear focusing design give silent, high speed autofocusing. It is perfectly suited for Canon's EOS system cameras, placing special emphasis on manual focusing capabilities.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I have owned this lens now for approx 6 years and it has given outstanding results. I specialise in Formula1 and motor racing and combined with the 1.4 and 2 extenders it is more than enough to cover all situations. I use a Canon 7D body with these lens combo's which give 320mm @ 2.8f, 448mm @ 4.0f, and 640mm @ 5.6f. with very little weight when compared to the larger L series prime lenses.
I have attached a shot I took at the Le Mans 24 hrs race in 2007 at 2.30am. f/2.8, 1/100 sec, !SO 1600.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I was looking for good lens under 900 $. My needs was a good, fast telephoto lens, and this lens is what I looking for.
It produces high quality images, and it is good for some long landscapes like mountains and with moon in background, also great for some games and night events and portraits.
It is also small, black and light.
Finally, I recommend it for who can not afford EF 70-200 2.8s.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
This is a very good lens. Images are very sharp with little or no, chromic abberation. And, it works very well with my Sigma 1.4X and Canon 2.0X tele-extenders.
The only down-side to this lens is that is does not have IS. I knew that going in and compensate for it when I use it.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
My camera is a lowly T1i and this lens is a dream. This and my 85 1.8 is all I need for my daughter's volleyball.
The lens works exceptionally well for my son's outdoor soccer. Gets a little tight when the action is close, but is good-to-go about 75% of the time.
Pictures are coming out really well. Partly because of the high quality of the lens and partly because I like the quality of this lens which encourages me to use it more and improve my skills.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I loved this lens for it's speed and DOF, it makes lovely portraits if you like to shoot from some distance instead of getting right up on your model. But the day I truly fell in love with it was the day I was in a hurry and failed to zip up my bag, tossed the bag on my back and the lens arced up about six feet off the concrete floor and smacked to earth with a sickening crunch. Heart sick, I mounted the lens on my camera to see how much damage I had done, and it zipped through it's focal range like new. Months later it is still just fine. Thank you L construction.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I selected this lens because I wanted prime lens quality, and the capability of selective focus. The Canon EF 200mm f/2.8 absolutely fulfills my wants in this type of lens. It's very sharp with very shallow DOF @ wide aperture. I find it's weight to be comfortable and it has nice balance.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I really love this lens - it is too long for general use, but it has wonderful sharpness and very smooth bokeh. It has good reach for moderate distances and is fast for the focal length. Minimum focus distance is pretty long though - about 1.5m. I often wish I could go closer with it. At it's sweet spot this lens looks sensational. Probably not long enough for serious wildlife photographers.

I was going to buy the 135f2 but a wise friend recommended this and I'm glad that I went with it. I have the 85mm 1.8. I've used this with a Canon 25mm ext tube and have gotten beautiful results. I recently used it at a fund raising event and I was able to get shots I could have not gotten with the 135. I'm glad I went for this lens. The auto focusing is incredible quick. I'm very pleased with the results.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
Not enough good things can be said about prime lenses! They overpower zooms (in my opinion!) every time. I was tired of the flat images my 70-300 was producing, and how I HAD to use a flash to achieve a clear photo. This 200mm lens works in a surprisingly low light with minimal flash, and gets crystal clear photos even without a flash if you are outside in even before sunset. The bokeh that is created with this lens is soft and even, while keeping your subject ultra sharp. I'm a wedding photographer and I used this for the first time over the weekend and was incredibly happy with the results. So happy, that I'm considering trading in my 17-40 wide angle for another wide angle prime. The primes just create a softer, truer, better lit and more emotional image. Thanks, Canon!

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I shoot field sports and this lens is just stunning for the size, weight, and price. I recommend this anytime someone asks. I probably end up using this lens more than 80% of the time for sports because I end up taking almost all my pictures at 200mm, and for this lens to be so light and easy to handle and produce such amazingly sharp pictures I can't bare to not bring it to every shoot.
The AF is amazing in servo, it's always where I need it. I shoot on average 300 pictures every hour of a game and only lose 5% to misfocus, mostly from my own mistakes. The picture quality this lens produces is as expected from a prime, but if you have been using zoom you will be floored. With this lens I shoot almost every game handheld, no monopod. You don't need IS, I shoot 8am games through 7pm games, hand held at f2.8 with 1/800th and get what I need under 1600 ISO. Middle of the day that doesn't matter, but at f3.2 this lens couldn't be sharper.
If you are willing to learn how to work with a 200mm prime to get the shots you need, I can not say a single bad thing about this lens. You may find yourself getting more shots than you have before as you don't have to think about what focal range you want to zoom to. If I had to replace all my lenses, this would be the first thing I get, I can't live without it.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I received the Canon 200mm f/2.8L lens today and immediately starting shooting with it. The build is simply incredible and everything you'd expect from an L series lens. Shooting it was a dream, the auto focus was super super fast and sharper than I ever would have expected! The weight and feel is perfect as well. I have shot with the 70-200mm 2.8L IS which is hailed as the best lens to have in the business and this just may be even sharper at 200mm... not to mention lighter and down right good looking.

I take photos of my daughter's soccer team. She starts to play under stadium light at night. I asked a friend of mine who takes beautiful sport picture for advice of what to get under 1000.00. He suggested for me to buy this. He also said to set my ISO to 1200-1600. I did. First time out, got beautiful action pictures from my seat (not even on the side line).

Purchased this lens to shoot sports action in low light situations and it exceeded my expectations. Have not had the chance to shoot wildlife because of weather, but looking forward to using it this spring.
