I have used these for about four years now. They get a lot of use as we do a lot of hiking and bird watching. Besides taking them into the field we also keep them in the kitchen at home for my wife to use at a moment's notice if a new bird comes in. So, they get a lot of banging around on a daily basis. They still work great.
You can spend a lot more of your money on binoculars with expensive optics but as soon as you use them and your hands shake your image is blurred. With the great Image Stabilizer in these the image is clear and sharp. You can make out the texture of the feathers on birds like I have never seen before with any other binoculars.
These are just the best value out there. No, they are not waterproof and the case is light duty. They do hold up to a lot of use and normal banging around however and a good padded case is not expensive. Keep them out of snow and don't drop them in the creek! Just use good common sense. Ours have been through a lot of outdoor use including cross country skiing, kayaking, and more and they still work great.
I highly recommend these to anyone who likes detailed viewing. You will not be disappointed!

On the positive side the optics and the IS are great giving a clear view of what you are looking at. On the negative side the build quality is poor. The anti-slip finish stars wearing off immediately (even though they are lightly used and carried in my camera bag) and before long both the eyepieces came off. Although these are great binoculars they are let down by the build quality.

Comments about Canon 10x30 IS Image Stabilized Binocular:
I bought these great Stabilized Binoculars for a Christmas present for my wife. She loves them! They are easy to use, light weight, and give bright crystal clear images. My wife is a casual, back window birder. The stabilization feature makes these 10X30 binoculars a charm to use. I also use them on occasion and they are easy to adjust for different users. We love these things!

Comments about Canon 10x30 IS Image Stabilized Binocular:
I have purchased an image stabilized binocular about an year ago, and would like to share my experience. I also use a Canon SLR so I would like to compare some aspects to my camera.
Battery life - I think this is great because I replaced a pair of AA batteries one year after I purchased. This is one of concerns how often I need to replace batteries.
I use this binocular every weekend to seek birds in a forest or watching stars or moon. This fits to my hand and face very easily so I don't need to worry any operation to adjust focus and press the image stablizer button. But if you ask me one thing I dislike about this product is I have to check eye piece balance on the right hand side in a bright condition because it moves sometimes. To solve this issue, I had a look the insruction. B&H provides a link for a manual. Please read especially "HOW TO USE BINOCULARS" section. If you are fist time user of binoculars, this helps a lot to operate in a dark condition.
When I look through views from this binocular, I was surprised how beautiful views compare to a finder-view from Canon EOS 50D with EF 400mm F/5.6L USM. I should not compare SLR lens and binoculars, however, I was so impressed the clearness on this binocular. So if you have a chance to try this binocular, please try to look anything in a bright condition.
The last one I would like to mention is the image stabilizer system on this binocular. I have only one image stabilized EF lens, which is EF-S 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 IS. As you may know the image stabilizer on the EF-S lens, it moves constantly. You notice IS is moving. However, IS on this binocular is different from the SLR lens I have. While you are using IS you press and hold the IS button, you would not notice or recognise IS is working/moving or not. This is not negative opinion. This is brilliant. The view you are looking at is jsut image stabilized. To confirm the IS is working or not, simply unhold the IS button and keep looking the view. At this time, you will notice your hands cause a little shakes or the wind may be.
My opinion has not changed since I purchased this binocular. I am happy with this product.
I hope this helps.

Best pair of binoculars I have ever looked through. The image stabilization makes a huge difference.

Comments about Canon 10x30 IS Image Stabilized Binocular:
Considering what it does, optical quality is good but not perfect. Not too bulky or too heavy. Easy to use, works very well for casual viewing - very satisfied. Supplied carrying case is poor. Shopped locally for a padded camera carrying case which proved to be the answer, bring the binoculars with you when you shop. As with any pair of quality binoculars, be mindful of where you put the lens covers. One must assume some sense of responsiblity when purchasing any product. Treat these binoculars well and reward yourself with viewing pleasure.

Have owned this binoc for close to 5 years. Amazing optical quality for the price - even without stabilization these are great binocs - but the stabilization is a HUGE bonus. Press the button - and wow - it's magic! It makes a huge difference bird watching, reading far away signs or objects, and is phenominal at sporting events. Others who look through them are always amazed - and immediately jealous! These get my highest recomendation.

They are a little more compact than I expected - which is great because they still offer a bright and stable image.
Got them for use on a boat and they make a huge difference compared with standard binos.

I own a pair of Carl Ziess Binoctem 7x50's and they are GOOD but this pair of Canon binoculars is up there with the Ziess' in terms of optical quality which is a real achievement for Canon. At 10x magnification shake normally becomes an issue but when you press the IS button, the magic kicks in and the image become rock steady.
I bought them for my wife and she is delighted with them.
Highly recommended.

Comments about Canon 10x30 IS Image Stabilized Binocular:
This purchase was to replace our previous 10x30 IS binoculars we managed to loose while on a trip of a lifetime to Alaska. Fortunately, they disappeared while we were at our last port! The first thing we did when we got home was order the replacement pair. Anywhere we have used our Canon IS binoculars around other people who may or may not have binoculars, when we share ours they are always impressed. We highly recommend.

Comments about Canon 10x30 IS Image Stabilized Binocular:
We purchased these to use in road rallies and track events because our normal binoculars were too shaky to see clear images. These binoculars are amazing and for what they are and what they cost, an incredible value as well.Very easy to use and compact yet ergonomic as well. If you want a great IS binocular for a reasonable price, look no further.

I have a the 12X IS binocs and they have been rock solid without issue. These are no exception. Worked great on our trip to Alaska and made watching wildlife and glaciers much more enjoyable. Used them on a cruise boat as well as a train ride. No regrets on this purchase. I also own a set of 14X Fujinon's and they have been back to Japan for repair twice after minimal use. Thank you Canon!

I got this to take to the ballet where my seat is a long way from the stage. It works beautifully. It would be nice if it had covers for the front lenses.

Comments about Canon 10x30 IS Image Stabilized Binocular:
At 50 years of age... The Image Stabilizer is a bug plus for me. Even with these relatively low power 10X binoculars I have trouble holding still enough to see fine details. The IS feature is a big help for me.
The optical quality is also very good for the price. I am sure I could find a $350 pair of 10x42 binoculars that have better glass. But I am not sure I could actually see any better due to my own inability to hold them still. This little pair of 10X30 Canon binoculars out perform my Bushnell PowerView 10X50 binoculars in brightness and contrast.
I am very pleased with this IS binocular from Canon.
My only complaint is that Canon does not include lens caps for the front objectives and the storage case is very poorly made. I will need to purchase lens caps and a better case.

I got these to use at a cabin in Missouri wilderness. 12 miles on gravel road to get there. For bird and wildlife watching. They are very clear easy to focus. Image Stabilizing is why I chose the Canon, it works for small things in the distance so you can view things that would move to much to see clearly with other binos or would need a rest to stedy them. Not much bad about them, may get a hard case forbetter protection. I started on a bidding site for used. How dumb some are. Brand new with 3 year warranty cost About 40.00 more. B&H was very easy to deal with best price out there.

I've only had these for a short time, but am quite impressed with the image stabilization feature. Although not perfect, it makes viewing the moon and other celestial objects much more pleasing. I plan to use these on my boat as well, and have no reason to believe that the result will be amazing. Very nice and a good price. -Rob

My first pair of IS binocs. I bird and spend a lot of time on a boat. The optics are great but the IS makes these binocs. The steady image allows for great bird ID and helps greatly with movement on the water. I wouldn't trade em!

Comments about Canon 10x30 IS Image Stabilized Binocular:
Great for birding - light weight makes them easy to carry and handle. The stabilizer is easy to use: just locate the object through the lenses, click the stabilizer button & fine focus. The IS gives a crystal clear and stable image, with very good lighting, enhancing and speeding identification of wildlife. Work well with glasses. Case has its own strap.
Possible short-coming: while there are caps for the eye pieces, there are none for the front lenses.
