Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I used to hand-carry this film in my carry-on luggage back to Costa Rica where i live. I shoot the street and the capitol city of San Jose is invariably gloomy a lot of the year. This was my favorite film. Results were predictable and easy to meter for. Not like Ilford 3200 which always seemed to need more light than i expected. I am so sorry Fuji discontinued this film. A true loss for low-light shooting with film.

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I used the product for shooting with film camera. I now know that 1600 better film speed than 100 or 400 for me. The price was slightly high.

"This item has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available."
Say it ain't so, Fuji!
Tri-X like grain with an extra full stop of ISO. True ISO is near 800 in XTOL 1:1. Staggeringly beautiful tones.
The discontinuation of this film is a true loss for 35mm photography.

Surprisingly sharp and fine-grained for an ISO 1600 film. Pushes to 3200 easily. Good contrast and tonality. This is my favorite high speed B&W film.

I used this film with Contax G21/2.8 and G35/2. Beautiful tonality, very contrasty and extremely sharp.

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
This film is fast and the grain is comparable to that with the younger sibling, Neopan 400
But the grain can be more apparent if development time is increased

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I used Neopan 1600 for the second term of Photography class. Results were consistent and very satisfying. I also used it to document my Biology class field activities. In both cases I used available light only - no flash. Results exceeded expectations in both cases. I initially purchased the 1600 speed film to compensate for the slower 'kit' zoom my camera was equipped with. it performed well for this purpose too.
What's great about it is that it allows slower zooms to be used hand-held, and allows indoor shots without flash or tripod.
What's not so great is that I can only get it mail-order. wish it were availible locally.

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I have achieved some nice shots with this film, mostly in low-light conditions indoors and outdoors. It enlarges well, as two 16"x20" (hand printed) enlargements on my wall attest. My experience is that it is more contrasty than low-speed B&W films, making it a good choice for a film noir look (especially with the grain). However, this also means it has a tighter, more restricted midtone range in many situations unless you get the exposure bang on, though dodging and burning (by hand or in PhotoShop) can retrieve and reveal more detail when the exposure is not perfect. (Practicing with it before an important shot/shoot will help you work out the best setting for your camera/lens/flash combination.) The grain is different from that of Delta 3200 or T-max 3200, so that gives another tool to consider in choosing the film to use. Finally, for the best true blacks, get it printed traditionally (on true B&W paper).

Low light shooting without flash, cheaper option than Ilford Delta 3200 (still my favorite)

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I shoot primarily indoor/outdoor at night, so my lighting is minimal. I also tend to push this film a stop -- not always. Whether pushed or not, this film produces excellent results. Many of the shots appear to have a film noir look and feel to them. Processing I do myself with XTOL or Rodinal or a combination of both. Best results I achieved with simply XTOL.
I highly recommend this film for that film noir look/feel. Really smooth to work with.

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I would push and pull this to almost any reasonable speed (even 6400 if i had to).
The grain is incredibly fine, and nowhere near what most people would expect for an ISO1600 film.
My absolutely preferred developer with any Neopan variant is XTOL - and w/ 1600 it's pretty much a given.

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I use Neopan 16oo at an exposure index of 800 for visual effect in low light situations as well as night shooting. The grain is suttle and adds to the feel of what I want my images to convey. This particular product by Fujifilm is a mainstay for me in Black and White film because of its consistancy in Quality. I know what I can expect from it every time, which allows me to concentrate on my work without worries about its technical reliability.

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I use Neopan-1600 when shooting fast action sports in dim light without a flash. Typically I use it outdoors with a thick overcast toward late afternoon. This film gets the job done by giving me a great shutter speed (1/2000th) at f4. It will stop a smoking fast lacrosse ball dead in its tracks. I am happy that the film is not too grainy for enlargements, but I wish the whites were brighter. This is a minor criticism for a film of this speed. I find myself reaching for this film quite often when the light is less than good.

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I use this for street shots at night in Paris and elsewhere. Not the best shadow detail, but sharp. If you're looking for a 'film noir' effect, I swear by this stuff. It's a little thin, which I find annoying, but I think its grain quality is superior to many other films rated at the same speed.
Have not scanned it or tried pulling it yet.

Comments about Fujifilm Neopan-1600 135-36 Professional Black & White Print Film:
I decided to try this film for low light shooting, and as long as you're not expecting a lot of shadow detail it works great. It's probably closer to a true 800 ISO. However, it has finer grain than the 3200 ISO films and a true ISO that is higher than any of the 400 speed films; it fits well in the middle. It's also sharp. Looks good in D76 1:1, but tends to be on the contrasty side, so I cut back on recommended times slightly to keep highlights in check.
