At first I thought this bag was too small and was going to get the Tamrac 5374 Adventure 74 backpack instead which is a bit bigger and fits all my *necessary* gear quite comfortably with room to spare. But then I realized the true beauty of this bag is that it's so small and that it *cant* fit everything. It is a lightweight, grab-and-go kind of a bag that stays comfortable while walking around in the heat and humidity of NYC streets and subway all day. Its small, its portable, and it stays lightweight simply because you cant fit all the extra specialty gadgets that likely wont be necessary anyway.Currently I have it packed up with a Nikon D80 with Nikon 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 AF-S VR (attached or unattached), Nikon 50mm f/1.8 with rubber hood, Nikon 24-85 f/3.5-4.5 G ED IF AF-S with hood, and Nikon SB-600. When its all packed up, the bag definitely gets noticeably wider but it stretches effortlessly and doesnt need any *squeezing* or contorting to close the zipper. The front zippered compartment is a little too tight IMHO and I think Tamrac should reconsider its design. That said, it still works well to fit extra batteries for the camera and flash as well as a notepad and pens. But when the main compartment is packed up, its near impossible to reach to the bottom of that outer compartment without unzipping the whole thing and I have fairly thin hands and long fingers. It performs well in the rain, no leaks when I got caught in a serious downpour.Overall, its a good bag, so good and the straps are so comfortable I carry it almost everyday and everywhere I go, whether I think I'll be shooting or not.

The Expedition 3 is a good starter bag. Its carrying my D40 with a Sigma 70-300 lens mounted. A 50mm prime under neath. Also have the kit lens & a fisheye lens on one side with a flash on the other. It fits snug, which is good. The outside pocket has 2 pouches for memory cards, but the bottom one is a little difficult to get to. The bag disperses all its weight across the middle & top of the back, so its not much for support. But its hard to beat for compact storage & transport. Lens Pen fits perfectly in the pen pouch in the outside pocket.

rugged build, but tight fit for my gear. i have a nikon d90 with battery grip, 18-105mm, 50mm and 70-300mm and i won't be able to fit another lens or flash. really like it for now, but as soon as i get more gear, i'll outgrow this pack. will then be a great day pack.

For traveling, I do not carry a lot of accessories and wanted a smaller size case. I also wanted something that looked less "geeky," The Expedition 5273 meets those requirements. Well padded, and a good location for the camera within the case. This smaller size is perfect for just running down a trail to capture a few shots. The tripod strap at the back works great. The small pockets inside neatly organize smaller items like lens caps and memory cards.

Comments about Tamrac 5273 Expedition 3 Backpack (Black):
I currently carry my Canon DSLR body and 3 lenses in this backpack. There is room for at least one more lens and possibly external flash.
Really heavy duty. Very protective with velcro strap to hold camera body with lens attached, secure.
The "rain guard" edging surrounding the zippered compartment makes access a little difficult. It is a safety feature, but increases my time getting equipment out.
I would also prefer none of the extra straps be present (actually cut a couple of them off) as I do not plan on carrying a water bottle on the outside of my camera bag.
Overall, a great, protective environment for my equipment. Easy to carry, even over one shoulder.

This pack is constructed well but designed very poorly. I have 3 lenses (2 prime and 1 telephoto), a flash and a charger I could not get them all to fit in this backpack. The flexibility of the foam/Velcro padding is not very good.

Nice compact case, which I bought for that reason. It is a little tight though, and zippers are a little stiff under the anti-rain flaps. Overall I would still recommend it.

I needed a camera bag that would fit in the top case on my motorcycle. It has to fit my Pentax K-x and a few lenses until I get sorted out what I use and don't. I'm getting back into photography, and oh, look cameras with out film. This bag has plenty of padding and seperator things with velcro. The pack is small with plenty of places for sorting out batteries, SD-cards, and yes I still carry filters. I find it too short to stick my old tripod in the back, and the straps seam strange to me without a waste belt. It would be nice if I bought a shorter tripod, and the pack would be to big for my use if it was long enough for a waste belt. I plan on getting some accessory pockets for it if, I don't get rid of any of the lenses that I carry.

Comments about Tamrac 5273 Expedition 3 Backpack (Black):
This bag is good for a short hike or walk around the town with a couple extra small lenses, but thats about it. Its to small an I cant fit more than 2 lenses with the body in it. You could probably fit 3 or 4 prime lenses but when it comes to zooms, dont expect to be able to carry more than about 2 at most. Tripod doesnt secure to well, pockets inside and out are to small for anything important like filters or manuals. Batteries or cards will fit just fine though. Nice bag for a short walk but to small for my needs.

I got unsatisfied with the product.[...]The zipper gets stuck easily and the tripod doesn't get well fixed in the backpack. The product is good, but it didn't attended my really expectations. I would have had a better orientation in the purchase.

This is a great comfortable backpack. It is a little too small for my personal needs but that is my own fault. My only real complaint is that the zippers can be quite stiff and difficult at first. Other than that there are a nice amount of hidy holes for accesories and sufficient protection for the equipment. It distributes weight well so you won't end up with a backache.

I use a 5D MarkII with a 70-300mm and a 100mm macro and it's very difficult to put all off it on the case. It's just have 32cm of height, it was my fault, ok, but i thought that it was bigger.

As soon as I took this backpack out of the box, I knew I would be returning it. It looks like a child's school backpack on me (I am average height and small-medium build). A 19" collapsed monopod will dangle very low from the backpack no matter how you try to fasten it. If all you want to carry is one body with zoom attached, and an extra prime or two, and maybe some batteries, then this little thing could suit you well. Don't bother trying to make it a real travel case.

Unfortunately I must return the bag. After reading many B&H reviews [...]I had hoped to use it as camera backpack and purse for a trip to Jamaica. I have a Canon Rebel Xsi, kit lens 18-55mm, 70-200mm f/2.8 with hood reversed, and 50mm f/1.8. I hope to purchase a dedicated flash and tripod soon so I knew,[...], I needed room to "grow" in the bag I purchased. [...]Bottom line - my equipment made for a tight fit, and adding my wallet and sunglasses was out of the question, much less being able to add future photography equipment. In my opinion, with less equipment it would be a great bag - sturdy construction and a nice size for travel. Camera and lenses would be well protected.
