Wimberley's quick release plates for lenses are made of silky-smooth andonized aluminum. They fit all the Arca-type quick release adapters, made by many different companies such as Arca-Swiss, Foba, Graf/Studioball, Gitzo, NPC and of course Wimberley. The plate has drilled holes to accept flash brackets from Wimberley, Kirk & Really Right Stuff.
Note: The following lenses have 3/8" threads, and require a "reducing bushing" (#ST651) to fit the plate:
| Lens | Bushing |
| Canon 400mm f/2.8 IS | x1 |
| Canon 600mm f/4 IS | x1 |
| Canon 600mm f/4 | x1 |
| Minolta 600mm f/4 | x2 |

Using the release plate with the Wimberly tripod head and an F4 600mm lens. Provides quick release and great stability. Well machined product. The non-release inserts are great "insuance" to protect a very expensive lens from sliding off.

Comments about Wimberley P50 Quick Release Plate:
Use this Plate on my Canon 600 IS 4.0/L, it is great, very reliable, construction and handling are fantastic. The only problem I have with it sometimes is that when taking the plate off the lens, the screws get stcuk in the plate.

Comments about Wimberley P50 Quick Release Plate:
Nice long quick release plate. Used this with a rented lens (400mm F2.8). Will probably use it again in the future when I rent a lens. Note, you do not need to order a separate bushing, one comes with it.

Comments about Wimberley P50 Quick Release Plate:
Rock steady on a wimberley gimbal head and even attaches to to my bushhawk for hand-holding those larger lenses. A little pricey for what it is but I suppose you pay for what you get. Mine came with the brass reducer bushing in the pack so no need to buy that separate.(Not sure if that is standard or not)

Comments about Wimberley P50 Quick Release Plate:
I use the P50 with my 300mm 2.8 IS for its intended purpose as well as a handle for hand held photography. The foot that comes with the 300 mm is too small to serve as a handle.

Comments about Wimberley P50 Quick Release Plate:
Quality machined plate. Paired with a Wimberley clamp,it does not get much better. I find the safety stops help insure you big glass does not have any accidents. The length gives you plenty of adjustment space for getting spot on balance of your lens/camera combo.

I use P20 QR Plate attached to my eos 600 f/4 on a wimberly gimbal head wh200. It makes so easy to point and shoot without effort, and I get no blur or micro-blur on my pictures...
The two security screws at the ends of the plates are a must to avoid accidental falls of the camera and lens during balancement operations.

Comments about Wimberley P50 Quick Release Plate:
Used this plate on my EF 400 2.8 IS attached to a 1D Mark III and it handled the beast. A gimbal type head works great and allows for fluid motion and easy, quick access to the lens.
This plate is long and allows for additional attachments (like a flash and a better beamer) or can be moved forward or backwards to accommodate for the lens.

Comments about Wimberley P50 Quick Release Plate:
I use this plate to mate my 600mm f/4 IS to my Wimberley Head mark II. It has a great range of adjustment for and aft to compensate for various accessories like flash, teleconverters, etc. Its very well made and precisely machined. I opted for this plate rather than the replacement foot as I like to carry my lens by the foot and the replacement foot doesn't allow enough room for one's fingers between the foot and the lens.

Comments about Wimberley P50 Quick Release Plate:
works great, but i prefer the plate to be same size as foot. the p50 is way too long in my opinion. it extends past the foot. not only that a quick release for a 600mm is kind of ridiculous. i found myself fumbling around with one tripod and switching instead of just having two tripods.
