Chimera Video Pro Plus Overview

The Chimera Extra Small Shallow Video Pro Plus Softbox is designed for use with a broad light with a wide throw, such as a Tota light. With fabric rated for the heat of a continuous light up to 750 Watts, the Small Shallow Plus for Video applications is ideal for work in cramped interiors where medium softening of a broad light is desired.

The "Plus" designation of this softbox means the front face of the softbox is removable. Chimera makes different strengths of diffusion material for front face applications.

This softbox has a built in "lip" around the edges to help control light spill. This lip also facilitates the attachment of optional honeycomb grids, fabric grids, and louvers.

This softbox is only for lights with a very wide throw. The shallow depth of this softbox will not allow the light from a spotlight to spread out adaquately within the box. Exposure then would not be as even across the entire front face of the softbox.

Recessed front helps to control light spill and facilitates the attachment of an optional grid or louvers.
Equates to more headroom if the box is used overhead, or easier maneuvering in cramped interior shoots.
This softbox comes with a 1 stop diffuser, a 1/2 and 1/4 grid cloth. This provides many options of light transmission and level of softness.
Required Speed (mounting) Rings are available separately for many manufacturers' lights.

can this be used on the Arri L5 Led light? if so, do I need to get an adapter (speed ring)?

You could attach this to an Arri L5 LED light with a speed ring such as the Arri Speed Ring for 650W Fresnel B&H # ARCSRF650. Please see the image below.

The Chimera Video Pro Plus Small Softbox 24 x 32 , B&H # CHVPPBS, measures 24 x32 x18 in size, and has a depth of 18 inches (45 cm).

What is the difference between this and the XS ...

What is the difference between this and the XS Video Pro Plus 8114 - beside the 30$ price difference? Thanks.

The difference is based on the diffusers that they include. The XS Video Pro Plus comes with a 1/2 and 1/4 diffusion panel while the Video Pro Plus 1 comes with a full stop diffusion panel. Otherwise, they have the same dimensions and silver interior.

According to Chimera, if you are referring to the the Chimera Modular 9.5 (241 mm) Speed Ring for Daylite Junior Lightbanks, B&H # CH9204 MFR # 8135, this speedring is only compatible with the Chimera Daylite Junior softboxes. If you are looking to purchase the the Chimera Video Pro Plus Softbox - Medium 36x48 (90 x 120 cm), B&H # CHVPPBM, listed above, then the Chimera Modular Speed Ring for the AAdynTech JAB Daylight LED Light (9.5 ), B&H # CHMRVPOP MFR # 9203OP, would instead be the correct speedring for use with this softbox.
