The Slik 700DX Pro 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is the head that originally comes supplied with the 700DX tripod. Made from solid, precision-machined aluminum this all-metal head has the strength and durability to handle up to a 4x5 field camera or a long telephoto lens such as a 300mm f/2.8 or 80-400mm zoom lens.
Unlike most quick release systems, this head features a circular quick release plate that can be secured to the tripod with the camera pointing in any direction, making attaching a camera more intuitive than most other heads.

Comments about Slik 700DX 3 Way Pan Head with Quick Release:
Easy to use, very solid built. The leveling bubbles are very useful for landscapes. Tilts and moves smoothly. Has a quick release (very useful!)
Overall this is a GREAT head that is solid and convenient for use.. I cannot think of anything negative about it.

Comments about Slik 700DX 3 Way Pan Head with Quick Release:
The original pan head was damaged when I first purchased it. After trying to repair it I decided to replace the pan head with a new one that now works fine.

Comments about Slik 700DX 3 Way Pan Head with Quick Release:
A strong, secure yet easy to and adjust head. It securely and solidly attaches to the 700DX Tripod. This enables the Pan/Tilt Head to smoothly track movement. The Quick Release is solidly built and it gives you confidence that your camera will stay exactly where you aim it. It also allows you to use more than one camera if they are all fitted with the Quick Release mechanism. The two bubble levels make short work of perfectly aligning your camera.I feel extremely comfortable in knowing that me cameras are securely held by the Quick Release mechanism and the tripod head.

Comments about Slik 700DX 3 Way Pan Head with Quick Release:
Its a decent head but its quite heavy and the handles don't feel very secure, they go from nice and tight to very loose in one turn, needs some refinement. The quick release is excellent when I swap between my spotting scope and camera.

Comments about Slik 700DX 3 Way Pan Head with Quick Release:
I've owned the Slik DX700 Pro tripod for about 12 years now, and it's been a great tripod.
After 12 years, the bolt the tightens down the "pan" finally broke off. So I guess it is time for a new head and/or tripod. Apart from this problem, I've been happy with this tripod (used on 35mm & 4x5 large format).

Comments about Slik 700DX 3 Way Pan Head with Quick Release:
I'm amazed that a reviewer could compare this with the 300 series. The mechanism for releasing the plate is different and the plate is different. For releasing the plate you need to unblock a lever and then to push a button. The lever acts on a piece of metal that press on the lateral of the plate. The button is made of plastic and it moves a pin that fits in a groove. I tried with a heavy camera to put this head reversed and the plate was firm.
It is a solid head, not very good with panning with a camcorder, but good enough for panning with a digital camera.
The leveling bubbles are very useful.

Comments about Slik 700DX 3 Way Pan Head with Quick Release:
Great value for a sturdy and smooth 3-way pan/tilt head which even includes spirit levels. Unlike the previous review, I found the handles to be more than adequate.....providing that they are not switched around during assembly since the thread lengths are different......might have been his problem if it only contacted 1-2 threads.

Comments about Slik 700DX 3 Way Pan Head with Quick Release:
This looks like and is priced like a Pro/sumer model. But the hardware is cheap. You have to crank the bolt/handles so tight to keep it from slipping that the plastic end of the pan bolt ripped right off rendering this head useless. Also, there's no way to buy replacemnt parts. I had similar problems on Silk 330 series tripods adn heads. No more Silk for me.
