As VJs, we go through a lot of mini-DV tapes. Whenever we're forced to buy lesser quality tapes locally, the quality of the Panasonic Pro tapes really stands out. It never ceases to surprise me that people spend big $ on a camera and then use poor quality tapes - defeats the point of using a good camera! These tapes ALWAYS produce a great quality image with our Panasonic DVC-30, even in low light conditions. We never get errors on these tapes like we do with cheaper ones. We usually just shoot with one camera at our gigs or on tour, so there are no second chances - if a tape errors, it's tough luck. So why risk it? With the Panasonic Pro tapes, we know they'll work every time. Also, when we go back to them a couple of years later, they still work as well as when we recorded them - so they're great for archiving.[...]

We use large quantities of MiniDV tape here at our 3 channel local access television studio. The last batch of 100 Panasonics seemed to have an awful lot of bad tapes. I had never had that problem before, so I hope it was a fluke. But I definately am going to be cautious and test before important shoots.

Comments about Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ 63 Minute Mini DV Tape:
Have used this product to run test videos. Have done a number of rewinds of the tape to the beginning to re-record things and have not noticed a difference in the quality of the video. I am giving it 4 out of 5 starts because I have only tested the tape with short videos. Have not recorded any long videos yet.

For my HD video recordings I'm using the Panasonic MiniDV tapes
AY-DVM63PQ for years and works great for me. No frame drops - just a great product.
After uploading in computer, I keep the video on the master tapes for future consideration, at this price and this quality is above question.

I use a Canon HV30 with these tapes. I have never had any issues with them. Panasonic is the way to go. Read the forums and the experts opinions on these.

Comments about Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ 63 Minute Mini DV Tape:
These tapes are a good value, though I do get an occasional bad one-- maybe 1 in 10. I use Panasonic tapes exclusively for my arsenal of Panny cams. The reviews by others have been favorable, and the price is right. I have used the pricier Advanced Master Panasonic tapes, too. Panny's claim is the better tape and lubricant will save wear on the heads. To be honest, I find myself using headcleaner just as much with the pricier tape. You can't go wrong with these.

Used these tapes professionally at work, then they switched to save money. Never had a problem with the Panasonic PQ (professional quality) tapes, but the replacements seemed to have more frequent drop-outs. I only buy these tapes for my home DV camera.

Comments about Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ 63 Minute Mini DV Tape:
I shoot video in a variety of instances: documentary, wedding, event, musical, archiving, short and feature indie films, etc. I find Panasonic mini DV pro quality tapes to be ideal for any camera, making it great on a multi-cam shoot of various camera makes/models. With the industry changing over to P2 cards, I prefer the security of creating a library of my work on tape. The Panasonic pro quality stock indeed serves my needs with quality and far fewer drop-outs. Hey, it's still tape, so it's not perfect. But have you ever had a hard drive crash with your nearly finished edits on it, never to be retrieved? Tape keeps my footage and can save my backside. When P2 becomes as economical, we'll talk change.

Great tape - I've been using it exclusively for almost 10 years. I find it's important to stay with one brand of tape to avoid head cleaning problems and this one works best for me.

Comments about Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ 63 Minute Mini DV Tape:
We are professional videographers using Canon XH-A1 cameras. This is the tape we use for all our shoots. We've never had a tape that was faulty or had issues capturing.
I love that the front of the tape has the space to write on. The current picture shows a blue MiniDV label which, in our most recent orders, has been a plain white label. We have received the tapes that have the blue label before but hopefully, moving forward, they all have the white label. It's so much easier when on a shoot not to have to worry about peel and stick labels.

I use this tape in my Panasonic DVX100B. I won't use anything else and haven't had any problems with this tape. Have purchased over 100 now and haven't had any dropout. Don't purchase those cheap tapes from box stores, it is worth the price on this one!

Comments about Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ 63 Minute Mini DV Tape:
I have been using Panasonic tapes for years, and would probably not use anything else. I work all over the world and in documentary work you only have ONE TAKE, so it is important not to "cheap out" on tape.
I have been using the 33 minutes tapes as well for domestic use, so I don't waste so much at the end of the tape. Those unused minutes add up! But for international travel I go with the 63 minutes to save space and weight.

Comments about Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ 63 Minute Mini DV Tape:
I recently purchased the Canon HV-40, and it's suggested that you use HDV quality tapes. After doing a lot of research on the [@] forums, these are some of the best tapes for the money as they are professional grade tapes. It's debatable whether tapes specifically sold as HDV make a difference, but in my experience the picture quality is superb and no dropouts either.
