I got this lens thinking it would be just another adapter. I was wrong. This thing is sweet it gives me the wide angle I need to shoot inside a medium sized room. Also it looks really sweet on the end of my HF100 Vixia. It does make the cam a little front heavy but not enough to be concerned about. There is a tiny bit of vignetting, but you can zoom through which is a feature a lot of the cheaper adapters do not give. Double thumbs up!

I'll give this item five stars because it's a Canon lens, and they are always high-quality--it's just not what I needed. I spoke with a B&H rep and asked if this wide angle converter lens was compatible with the Canon Vixia HF G10 and he said that all 58mm lenses would do the same thing. As this model was less than half of the price of the Canon WD H58W (a very similarly titled lens) that is recommended for the Vixia, since the B&H photo rep said it would work I went for it. It does in fact fit on the camera, but for one reason or another (the different aspect ratio of the G2, perhaps) putting the WD-58H on the Canon Vixia will result in the lens actually picking up its outer frame. You could eliminate this by zooming in, but you shouldn't have to do that with a wide angle converter.

Again, an excellently crafted item--just not what I needed. I did drop the cash for the WD H58W and it too is excellent and the appropriate lens for my needs.

This is a cool lens that is much better than a lot of inferior wide-angle lenses I've tried. Using it has opened up many new possibilities for my XM2. The only reason I don't give it 4 stars is that it's quite heavy (understandably!), and changes the balance of the camera quite a bit. But I'd recommend this lens to anyone!

Beautiful lens that i probably won't take off. Only slight negative is lack of filter thread on front of lens so you need to handle with care. It's snowing in Dublin quite heavily so still waiting to get out and use it more but overall very pleased with my new purchase.

I use this product to videotape pitchers while they are throwing indoors in a batting cage. The wide angle lens allows me to get their full stride length from only 6 feet away so I don't needs lots of extra space. Works well in indoor lighting situations

The wide angle adapter can enhance the image in addition to just getting more into the frame. It gives otherwise bland shots a more dynamic composition. I did find that when using it in conjunction with filters that the corners get cropped a bit but not enough to actually show up anywhere but in the editing.

this is a necc. addition to allow you to get a decently wide field of view, really a necessity with any kind of a "stedi-cam" kind of rig....

adds some weight and girth to the camera, so be warned

quality is "good enough" for my non-broadcast usage

If you ever intend to use a camcorder indoors, a Wide Angle lens is a must!

This is a Canon OEM so it is very low distortion and the included covers Hood & bag just make it a better bargain.

Only downside is that the large bell shape blocks the light and flash. No way around that, that shape is in every W/A lens I have seen.

...now I will want an external light/flash unit…

Of course B&H is tops as I have come to expect.

Shoot a lot of events and weddings,and this wide angle comes in handy. Its great because it zooms through so you can get wide, medium, and tight shots. Other wide angles I have used just did wide. Another plus is the price, next to nothing so you might as well get it.

The lens is really great. It has a reliable design, it is quick, easy and convenient to attach. One of the many advantages is that it has a lens hood although other lenses in this class don't. I would like to add that when shooting with this lens on my camera, by the way, I use it as a everyday lens, it gives a slight distortion on the sides of the frame.

I bought this lens to use with my Canon VIXIA HF S200 camera and works great.

Many times while using a cheap Converter Lens you will get Haze and other distortion when trying to use the zoom. Not with this one! I was pleasantly surprised that I could zoom in all the way and the image stayed sharp.

Well worth it spend a little extra for a good converter lens like this one.

Lens is well made, balanced to camera, and seems to improve picture quality since it allows for more detailed images at close range. I am using it in low light/theatre setting for dance recitals etc. and it works great! The only negative is if you zoom completely out you get a beveling effect, but this isn't important for my application (Close wide shot).

I bought this for my canon camcorder and I love it. I video blog in my kitchen and it gives a much broader viewing area which is exactly what I wanted. [...]It is a heavy lens so portability could be a problem but I would not have that issue. I didn't really notice significant curving of the image.

I love the lens on the GL2, but it is difficult to use in small spaces. The wide angle conversion lens solves this problem!

I used this lense to record stage productions where I needed the full length from center position.

Shot on a Sony PD170. Image seemed clear throughout, although front stage edge and top curtain showed curving instead of straight line (I think this is normal for WA lenses).

Overall, a fine piece of glass!

I shoot video with my Gl2 from a boat and needed a wider angle for my shots,to get fisherman and rod bending action from a fairly close position. This item helped a great deal!
