I bought two of these stands to hold speedlights that will be used to light backdrops. It comes with the 1/4" threaded stud to which you can attach an optical slave, or use the collar to attach an umbrella/softbox bracket. All clamps are metal screws threading into metal receivers, so you're NOT going to strip out plastic threads. It's a nice sized base as well, covering up to almost 3 feet. Great product for your money!

I used these stands to hold PAR 38 cans with low watt bulbs and retro-fitted barn doors in a retail store to create a specific look. I like the solidity of the stands, and the ease with which they can be extended.
I didn't like how short the threaded portion was. I had to buy wing nuts to install the cans, and felt there wasn't enough room for tightening. I would have preferred to use a couple of washers to help support the cans, but that was out of the question. As it is, I feel these wing nuts will need tightening every few days to make sure the lights are secure.

If you are looking for a stand that is cheap but actually works well this is the stand for you!

Comments about Impact Light Stand, Black - 6' (1.8m):
It's light and won't handle too much weight, but works perfectly for my little tungsten light and 45" umbrella. I'm not sure how it would handle with a strobe. You get what you pay for and this stand does its job. I'm a little bummed about the stud top though... I wish it were longer! It's so short that my light sometimes doesn't seem as sturdy as I would have liked.

It's a nice stand... looks great but some of the materials looks like cheaper plastic... I hope that it last as long as the manufacturer promises.

I bought two along with the umbrella/hot shoe brackets and I'm sorry I waited so long. I can put the speedlites where I want them, don't need others to hold them, and I can focus on the subject. They seem very sturdy (not bullet-proof, but I didn't want to pay for bullet-proof)and make set up MUCH easier. Highly recommended if you have basic lighting needs for a reasonable price.

Comments about Impact Light Stand, Black - 6' (1.8m):
This low cost stand is exactly what I expected; lightweight, compact & versatile. Won't take too much weight, but great for small lighting heads. It's new, but looks like it will hold up to repeated set-ups and strikes.

great little light stand for the money
small, lightweight, easy to use.
it isn't very heavy which can be a problem in the wind but use a sand bag or something to keep it from falling over and you'll be fine.

Nothing special about these. Decent value for the low price. In retrospect I should have spent a bit more to get taller, more heavy duty stands.

I use this for location lighting of portraits with an EZ-Box and Nikon Strobe, works fine, but isn't the smoothest piece to operate, of course it's only [$] so can't expect it to be perfect.

I use this for the times when I need to do basic portraits/head shots. It does a great job for this kind of use.
It is not too hard to take on and off the black cover.
Overall it is a great bargain umbrella!

Comments about Impact Light Stand, Black - 6' (1.8m):
Good value for a low cost light stand. Stability may become an issue with heavier lights, but for supplemental lighting or reflector/diffuser holder, it will work perfectly without being as obtrusive as a larger or heavier stand.

Comments about Impact Light Stand, Black - 6' (1.8m):
Great light stand with variable height. Mounting an external flash is a snap as is raising or lowering stand or releasing legs. All movements totally smooth Body feels stable with light accessories. Haven't tried with heavier equipment like lights or umbrella but think it will hold because legs stretch for stable platform. Highly recommend for value for the money.

Comments about Impact Light Stand, Black - 6' (1.8m):
I use the light stand when I want my external flash off my camera allowing me to position the flash higher then the camera. Or the stand/flash can stand a couple feet to the left or right of the camera.
A sandbag is highly recommended to secure the stand.
I am aware that the light stand that I have is inexpensive and not very sturdy. For now I don't expect to do a lot of off camera flash photography so this stand will work for me. There are plenty of sturdy and expensive stands in the market so depending on what you want spend wisely.

The stand is light and has no air cushioning, so I wouldn't recommend it for studio flahses. It seems sturdy so far. I bought this stand to use with my canon flash, so I don't intend to use it with anything heavy.

Comments about Impact Light Stand, Black - 6' (1.8m):
As a light stand, I'm sure this does not measure up to the higher quality products on B&H. However, for my Lowel Omni lights, they're sturdy enough to hold the light and an umbrella without tipping over. Various bits of the stands are plastic, but they work. When you consider the cost of these things, they're great value, and if you have your expectations set properly, I think deserve the 5 star rating.

This is overall great, but it can get a little top heavy with a flash and umbrella. Nothing a little bean bag can't fix!
