If there were six stars available, I would give it to this Bogen/Manfrotto bracket. I attached a small ballhead socket to it (removed from an old mini-tripod) and now have 360 swivel and bounce capability. My rig has a small fill flash mounted on the camera and a larger bounce flash on the bracket (connected via off-shoe adapters, but this can be done wirelessly as well) and it really opens up the creativity. The B/M bracket is solid, solid, solid! The handle is very convenient for lugging the rig around and knowing it is very secure. If you need to drive shadows out or cover back walls, it's easy to crane the handle up and hit distant spots.
The bracket is very easy to use in portrait mode, too. Simply loosen the lower knob a *bit* and you can swing the arm but still keep it in place with the proper tension. Works very, very well.
The rig is a bit big, but it means business. If you need a solid performer that will stand up to lots of field use, you would be hard pressed to find a better product than this one.

Very sturdy. Unusual looks, which will attract attention at least from other photographers. Bogen makes good products and this is one also. The only reason I have given it three stars is that its vertical orientation is a bit awkward and the fact that the purchase of a 1/4 inch accessory shoe is an absolute must for mounting a flash unit on it and the instruction that come with it are also minimal. Otherwise, an excellent product.

Comments about Manfrotto 233B Telescoping Camera/Flash Bracket:
For Canon shooters, you just need a OC-E3 and you are good to go. No other adapters needed.
Positives: Well designed and made with solid materials. Stable and flexible: Quick and easy to change height and angle. You can pop it on your tripod too, love that. Breaks down and folds upu to a small size for the bag. It's a pro rig.
Negatives: Knobs are big but that is also a positive. I'd like the hand grip to be a bit beefier but its workable.

Comments about Manfrotto 233B Telescoping Camera/Flash Bracket:
This bracket by Manfotto is what you would expect, a solid piece of camera equipment. But it is limited by the fact that you cannot quickly adjust it between portrait and landscape orientation. And while you can adjust it by loosening a screw it is awkward to do so.

I purchased a "cheap" flash Bracket a while ago; and, as I said, it was cheap... and fell apart! This bracket is awesome! Although with my big "mits" it would be cool if they had a model for "Man Size" hands... the grip is a tad small. but I would recommend to anyone looking for rock solid construction!

Very functional and rock solid. Does exacally what it's supposed to and is simple to use. It does take a little time to get everything lined up the way you want it, but works great and holds things secure once everything is set. Folds up nicely considering it's size.

Pros: Just used it for a wedding last weekend. Its great for holding extra still during the low light shots of the sanctuary. I tuck the 90 degree angle into my left elbow and it is a sturdy base to shoot from.
Cons: Worthless when switching from landscape to portrait. I shoot w/ a Spyder bracket/holster attached under my 7D body. The bracket loosens so I have to keep tightening it over and over. For the money it isn't a bad bracket and that is why I gave it 4 stars.
To do over, I would lay the cash down for a bracket that allows camera rotation between orientations. I am not a fan of the rotating flash. Hope this helps!

THE BRACKET IS GREAT FOR PUTTING THE FLASH HIGH OVER YOUR HEAD TO ELIMINATE THE RED EYE EFFECT.
IT DOES REQUIRE ME TO THINK OUT MY SHOT AS BRACKET IS NOT ALWAYS EASY TO ADJUST ON THE FLY.

I bought this bracket for a fashion show. This bracket works great and has proven to be a great addition to my bag.
The unit is VERY sturdy, so much that I felt fine carrying around my 5DMkII with extra battery grip and 24-70 mm lens!
The bracket is very easy to use, no explanation required at all! The gripe I could possibly have is that the grip on the unit is not very comfortable in your hand after say 30 min of holding onto it. Also it can be hard to figure out how to pack this in your bag!

Comments about Manfrotto 233B Telescoping Camera/Flash Bracket:
This bracket is everything that it professes to be and probably more. Very solid, can be adjusted in about any direction and is very versatile in that it can connect to and be connected to in multiple ways. My only complaint is that when connecting it to a tripod collar on a longer lens (my main use) the pad on the lower arm will slide and make it all but impossible to get tight. I think I've found a way around it but, depending on what you are connecting it to, it could be troublesome.

I mounted this on a Manfrotto 233B, and it's great. My D200, SB-900, and SD-9 all fit perfectly. It's sturdy, well-balanced, and delivers all the TTL information as if the flash were on the hot-shoe itself.

Comments about Manfrotto 233B Telescoping Camera/Flash Bracket:
I admit, I am new to external flash guns. I'm having some buyers remorse with this flash bracket.
Don't get me wrong, this is very well made, it's sturdy in one's hands and works well. It's solid in one's hand. It's also very easy to adjust and adapt. However, if you're in a rush to adjust, this does require a little bit of concentration to adjust perfectly.
However, I will probably be using it more as a mic boom or portable lighting fixture for my video side of work then as a flash bracket.
It's also a bit on the heavy side (but most brackets are.)
It does great for horizontal photography work but when doing vertical portraits, it's just too tall (unexpanded, but adjusted for vertical use) for my Vivitar 283. (that's why it gets 3 stars, I can only use it for 50% of my flash photography.)
So if you have a flash gun that has a rotatable axis, this might be the bracket for you but if you have a foxed flash gun (such as my 1975 Vivitar 283) I would look for something else.

Comments about Manfrotto 233B Telescoping Camera/Flash Bracket:
This bracket is used with a Canon 580 EX Flash, connected with a OC-3 cord and to a Canon EOS 40D camera. It is solid, functional, versitile and has good built in grip areas. The only issue I have with it is there isn't a lock wheel to hold the flash steady on the flash stand and sometimes the shoe adapter gets loose and wobbles. Easy to correct just an aggravation at times.

If you are looking to get your flash off of your camera this is the tool for you. Get the accessory shoe from Hama with it and a TTL cord (I use Canon OC-3) to keep full TTL functionality. I also use this as a video mount kinda "Fig-Rig". My sound inputs mount underneath, microphone on top and fire away. Plenty of studs and inserts to attach all of your favorites. The whole bracket is adjustable in all directions and when tightened down, has a very solid feeling.
