It holds all my gear and makes long hikes very enjoyable. Tripod holder is solid and tucks away nicely when not in use. Easy to get on and off even when fully loaded.

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Black):
I've own and used this bag for well over three years now and can't find very much to complain about. I've used it in the past with my DSLR kit with a full compliment of lenses, filters, etc..., and now I am carrying my Hasselblad 501 with three lenses (180, 80, 50). There are plenty of accessory pockets inside and a fairly good size one on the outside. I really like the tripod holder, and find it exceptionally convenient for travel. The construction is very sturdy and of quality build, the weather cover works well and is a Godsend, and the pack, fully loaded fits comfortably on my back. I find this pack invaluable when trekking. I also find the size is perfect in that any larger and I'd weigh down the pack so much that it would become difficult to carry, cumbersome, and eventually a nuisance. This size limits what you can bring along, but that has yet to be a problem. It's the bag I always grab for travel as well. Love it!

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Black):
As the header said, got the Mini Trekker because it had a tripod holder. And it works great.
Had the TrekkerAW/Computer, and hated everything about it. Size, weight, you name it, was just not for me.
I've owned the Mini Trekker for years and love the size and weight of it but always had no place to store a tripod.
Yes, I would tell you to get one.

My first backpack since 1967. Fits well rides well. I use it over one shoulder as well. Lots of sections to store cameras and lenses. Pockets for manuals and pens. I use it regularly and am unexpectedly well pleased.

I was looking for a backpack for travel. Still did not see anything better then this one. Light, strong construction, fits (extremely tight) all my travel equipment: Mark IIN with 70-200 in the bag, 5D with 70-40 in the bag, 100-400 in the bag, charger for Mark IIN, laptop, extra batteries, cards, filters, manuals, etc. Weights zillion pounds, but harness saves my back. Airlines check only for size, not weight for carry-ons, so it's perfect.

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Black):
Every backpack is a question of compromises. The compromises in this one are minimal adjustment of the harness, and size. Those are compromises that made this backpack an excellent choice for me since I wanted to be able to carry it on even small regional planes, and my hiking does not exceed a mile or so from the car. The harness is comfortable enough for day hikes and the size is less limiting than I expected while being accepted on every puddle-hopper I have tried.
I bought it for a Canon 20D, 70-200 2.8 L IS, 24-70 L, along with a 200 2.8L or smaller lens and batteries etc. It fits those just fine, along with room in a pinch for a 580 EX II flash to be wedged in. I now use it with a 5D and similar gear, or the 5D attached to a 300 2.8L IS along with the 70-200 or smaller lens. I did not expect the 300 to fit, but it does!

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Black):
I use this bag as the "carry around everywhere" bag for my DSLR, 580EXII flash, 24-70L and 70-200L lenses. Everything fits well.
The only negative I can think of, is that when you add the battery pack to the 30D, the camera and battery pack are too wide/tall to put into the bag comfortably - it causes the bag to "plump" up a little.

Good travel size - holds my Canon 40D, 70-200 f/4L, 17-55 f/2.8, and lens hoods with room to spare for other accessories. Fits under airline seats. Comfortable to wear on a day hike. Rain cover is nice option to have and works well.
Have not tried to carry mono/tripod as of yet.

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Black):
This is a great backpack but it does not fit as many items as Lowepro claims on their specs. To give you an idea you can fit without problem:
Canon 5D with a 70-200 IS 2.8L USM
24-70 2.8L USM
These items take almost all the space, you may fit some other small item but definitely not a flash.
Other than that, this is a great and compact backpack.

I like the fact that this has a rain cover on it. It fits my XTi with a 17-55IS and my 40D with a 24-70 snuggly in the center. I usually pack a 70-200 f/2.8 with that in the inside as well. Nice padding and lots of pockets. It's a great mid-size backpack that's not heavy and great build. And holds my Manfrotto nicely in front!

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Black):
I got this to replace my Micro Trekker which I've been using and loving since the day I got it. I've recently added some larger lenses to my collection and outgrew the Micro. Since I loved the Micro so much I had no problems giving this one a try.
The pros for me are that this is a very well made backpack, it isn't too large for my needs and it holds pretty much everything I have at this point with a little room for growth.
The only Cons I would have for this Backpack are: I don't really care for the Tripod Holder even though this was one of the reasons I bought this particular unit. I find it doesn't hold my Manny Tripod very well. The other would be how / where the rain cover is stored. It is in the bottom of the bag which causes a noticeable bulge in the inside of the bag. This makes it very difficult to put a second body in. Since the cover is attached the only solution would be to cut it off which is probably what I am going to do.
I bought this bag to take with me on a recent trip. With all my gear in it the bag was a little over 15 pounds. When worn as a backpack this was a very manageable weight but when sling over a single shoulder it was very uncomfortable, it seems like a little more padding would help in that area.
All in all my "Cons" were being VERY picky and I certainly think that this is well worth the money and offers a good amount of protection / padding for my very valuable camera equipment.
