Overall, I think this is a nice product. Its construction is good and its size allows it to be carried almost anywhere. I have used it with my 40D and ef-s 60mm Macro to shoot photos in my garden and also as a table top tripod. It also works well as a light stand when used to hold a Speedlite for background fill flash. So far the only thing I've noticed is that if you have the camera mounted to the tripod in the vertical position, the camera will slowly start to creep due to the weight, but I wouldn't think that would be a problem with a smaller DSLR or point and shoot. This is a handy little gadget that opens up numerous possiblities.

Comments about Slik Mini-Pro III Tripod with Ball Head - Supports 3 lb (1.3 kg):
This little tripod allows me to support my DSLR when all I need is to level the camera. It works great for a pinch when I am traveling and do not want to bother with carrying my large tripod.
The suction cup at the bottom works great on both glass and wood countertops. The short adjustment capability given in the legs allows just enough to level a camera on most situations.
I recommend anyone who is thinking about getting a robust small tripod to choose this one.
I liked this so much, I gave one to my brother-in-law. It is a great accessory to a camera bag.

Comments about Slik Mini-Pro III Tripod with Ball Head - Supports 3 lb (1.3 kg):
I bought this to use primarily with my Sony NEX-5N and possibly my HDR-PJ10 Handycam. Great concept. The central brace suction cup truly adds stability and the leg adjustments are easily made for uneven surfaces. The overall size (collapsed), makes it easy to throw in the bag with the 5N, extra lenses and the Handycam.
Just make sure that you slip a fingernail or credit card under the suction cup before removing the unit from the surface. I kept pulling it free and had the cup come loose from the post. I pushed it back in place & it seems to be functioning.

Comments about Slik Mini-Pro III Tripod with Ball Head - Supports 3 lb (1.3 kg):
If this tripod were smaller it wouldn't be any use with a camera and lense that weigh two pounds; any bigger and you wouldn't be able to put it against your chest and take sharp pictures hand-held at a 1/4 of a second. The ball and socket head make it the best version of Slik's tripods at that size...

Comments about Slik Mini-Pro III Tripod with Ball Head - Supports 3 lb (1.3 kg):
Strong and sturdy but lightweight, this is the perfect mini tripod. It's easy to use and fit's well in my camera bookbag. Honestly, if my pocket's were larger then it would most likely fit in it too. It sits well on all surfaces I've tried it on so far: street chairs, tables, floors, etc. I am very pleased with this product, and would buy it again if something were to happen to my current mini-tripod.

This is my second slik product, my first one is the Pro 713 which already discontinued, this mini one is soild and light, and the head ball design is perfect use for point and shoot cameras. It's a happy partner of my Leica D-Lux5. Go for it!

Comments about Slik Mini-Pro III Tripod with Ball Head - Supports 3 lb (1.3 kg):
It's defiantly more stable than the bendable tripods. And it fits in my Tamrac Explorer 2 bag.
Portrait is not as stable but gets the job done.
For the price its an A+. I just wish it had a quick release. But then it might not fit in my bag.
P.S. Put one leg in the direction of the lens.

Comments about Slik Mini-Pro III Tripod with Ball Head - Supports 3 lb (1.3 kg):
Most comments seem to assume that you'll be using this as a tabletop tripod per se. Yes, it works fine for that with smaller cameras. But mostly I've used it for other things:
- Support for a heavy DSLR (Nikon D700) braced against a wall, tree, car, or against my chest (while holding onto the camera!).
- With another mini ball head extension, as chest pod support for 8x or 10x binoculars, either in the wild or distant seats at theater or concert.
- Sometimes, as above with 20x spotting scope.
Yes, if you don't tighten the center support or the ballhead sufficiently, it will creep. So don't do that! I've had this for maybe 10 years or more, and it's still as good as new - after using quite a bit of force to set it.
In short, great value and tougher that it looks.

Comments about Slik Mini-Pro III Tripod with Ball Head - Supports 3 lb (1.3 kg):
I will be primarily using this tripod this summer with: 1) a T2i coupled with a 100L macro lens for flowering pics, and 2) an S95 for travel and work-related photography. The tripod balances nicely with the T2i and a smaller lens - the portable size will make it ideal for backpacking. I will also use it carefully with a 70-200L f4 lens on the T2i - one will simply need to be careful with the balance on this setup, since it's pushing the limits of what the tripod can manage. After a week or two of use, the tripod's ball head appears solidly built and easy to adjust. This tripod seems to be a winner!

I must have revied dozens of small tripods to travel with. I finally settled on the Slik mini-pro III. I use it with a Nikon d-5000 and find it to be very stable. It is light enough for travel and steady enough to use with my 55-200 lens. The price was right for the quality. I have not found any negatives thus far

Comments about Slik Mini-Pro III Tripod with Ball Head - Supports 3 lb (1.3 kg):
i used it on my canon gripped 5D2 with 24-70 lens, it holds pretty ok in landscape mode, haven't tried portrait yet, but if you have the middle column extended all the way, and when turn your camera to either left or right to get the perfect position-it starts to creep down. it is solidly built, but a little thicker than i had hoped for, but overall a good little tripod that could go inside your camera bag.
oh, did i mention that the little pouch it comes with has a stink to it? hopefully this smell would go away after longer use.

Comments about Slik Mini-Pro III Tripod with Ball Head - Supports 3 lb (1.3 kg):
Sony's Bloggie Touch camcorders have the tripod socket on the short side. To capture video in landscape mode (the ONLY way you would use this camera), the camcorder hangs off to the side of the center of the tripoid. Lesser tabletop tripods fall right over. Not this model. The overall construction is great. It's more than most people need, but at approx. 30 usd it well worth the price.

It has yet to be used but an inspection upon arrival, [...]showed the tabletop to be solidly built. With confidence I plan to use it and have ordered a full-size tripod built by the same company.

It is a sturdy mini-tripod but the height adjustment lock ring isn't the best. The main rod tends to move around a bit even-though I locked it all the way. I use it to do self recording with 7d+28-135mm. Watch-out, it might tip over due to unequal weight distribution of the lens and camera.
