Comments about Kodak High Definition 135-24 400 Color Negative (Print) Film (ISO-400) - 3 Roll Pack:

I'm a pro that uses film for important work. I often cover bicycle races, from club racing to the Tour of California. I was using 400 Ultra Color for this work, but they discontinued that film. I started using this film for a substitute, and really find it a fantastic film. It has very fine grain and fabulous color stability, even better in both respects than 400UC. And far better than 400 Max film. But it only comes in 24 exposure rolls, and when your shooting something that's fast paced with a motor drive you can go through 24 exposures fast. And having to take the time to change film more often than with 36 exposure rolls can really be a bummer, even with camera's that have motor rewind and automatic loading. If you have the same feelings please contact Kodak and tell them to make 36 exposure rolls, maybe if they get enough requests to do this they will start selling it that way!

Comments about Kodak High Definition 135-24 400 Color Negative (Print) Film (ISO-400) - 3 Roll Pack:

If you check the specs on Kodak's site, 400 HD is the finest grain, sharpest color negative film Kodak makes. That includes Ektar 100 and BW400CN! I can buy this from B&H (ancient customer, NEVER a problem!) and get it processed at [...] for a total of $6, 24 exposures. (Sigh....Why not 36?) I then scan the negatives. Since it is color, one can use B&W digital "filters" on it after the fact! Scanning into digital makes color, saturation, and contrast characteristics of film moot. All of these are adjustable in the computer. All that matters is grain and sharpness.Kodak HD 400 is the best. Period. Oh, and two stops better than Ektar? Yeah, baby....

Comments about Kodak High Definition 135-24 400 Color Negative (Print) Film (ISO-400) - 3 Roll Pack:

I use this film in both my Minolta SRT-102 for daytime photography and in my automatic Olympus rangefinder for both indoor & outdoor photos. With a fast lens on the Minolta, this film gives me excellent expposure range for action shots such as school sports and railroad photos. With enough daylight, it's fast enough for a not-so-fast tele or zoom lens on the SLR if the light is good. It's not fast enough for times when the shadows lengthen unless it's a still shot. Unfortunately, this film is becoming increasingly difficult to find since so many consumers, the main buyers of this film, have already gone digital. The 3-packs offer good value and I now try to keep a couple of them on hand as long as the expire date is long enough.

Comments about Kodak High Definition 135-24 400 Color Negative (Print) Film (ISO-400) - 3 Roll Pack:

Of all the films, KODAK has remained my favorite and of all the KODAK films, the HD series film has impressed me the most.

This film has provided me with excellent exposure and bold color without looking over-saturated and exquisite detail. What impressed the most was the grain. In all of my images taken, grain patterns were very tight and consistent from frame-to-frame. Compared to KODAK GOLD 400 and there appears to be no grain at all.

Highly recommended! You won't be disappointed.

Comments about Kodak High Definition 135-24 400 Color Negative (Print) Film (ISO-400) - 3 Roll Pack:

I shoot film with a Nikon F100 with several different fixed angle lenses, plus two zooms. I use this for convenience. I have two small children. So spending endless hours on the computer downloading and editing digital images is not an option for me right now. Also shooting film forces me to print the images!

I have been taking film pictures for 27 years. And this is by far the best film I have ever shot for the money. Pictures are so clear and vividly detailed that they appear to jump off the printed film page. I even like this film better than some of the pro films for its realistic color saturation with no gray hues. And the fast speed (400) makes it possible to shoot in low/soft daylight - a real plus for parents who want to get great images of their kids in action. This is an excellent film for home portraits. And it is a great general-purpose film, as the details resolve well for even macro photography. I highly recommend this film for most purposes.

If you want to shoot vivid landscapes with a film camera, stick with Fuji Velvia instead. But you'll need a tripod in most cases, since this film has a low ASA. I have shot film images of landscapes using a 4X5 large format camera as well. That camera and its film blow any 35 mm image away. So you can definitely do better than Hi definition Kodak 400 for landscapes. But otherwise, the latter film is a great buy.

                      Enjoy!

                      Dr. Susan Rodzik

This film is very good for landscapes , the color is so bright and compared to regular Kodak 400 color , this film is high def.
