The Nikon SC-29 is an off-camera flash cord that provides full TTL control for Nikon Speedlites when used with Nikon SLR cameras which have the TTL hot flash shoe. 3' long when coiled, it expands to 9', and permits easy use of flash when the camera is mounted upon a bracket.
In addition, the SC-29's AF Illuminator will also provide AF assistance to the camera in low-light conditions. This cord fully supports all advanced flash functions when used with the SB-900, SB-800 and SB-600 with an applicable camera.
Some other improved features are: Posi-Lock (an improved locking switch) at both ends, and the cord on the camera shoe that now connects parallel to the camera.

In low light (wedding receptions)and on a bracket this thing is a must have. I would miss the focus on many shots without it. I love it and it works great. HOWEVER, the flash mounting bracket end is not strong enough to support the SB-800 and a defusion device such as from Gary Fong. Mine has broken twice in the last year. You can also bump the on/off switch to off and not realize it right away. I keep a piece of gaffers tape over it and no more trouble.

Cable is too curly and doesn't allow much space between camera and flash, and because its so tightly curled, its not safe on a light stand, it will spring the flash right off the stand.. would prefer a long straight cable instead. It does work though.

Needed a method of creating distance and an offset to stop flash from washing out the photo while taking close photos of items. This is a perfect option to move the flash away from the lens or camera.

I wish this cord was not accordion. It has to be stretched and that pulls on the tripod. I have overcome this by using my large carbon tripod and using counter weights. I appreciate the idea of having it telescope to the length needed and retracts to a smaller size for packing but that little convenience is far outweighed by the inconvenience of it being so tightly coiled it pulls on the flash and tripod. PLEASE make one that is not coiled.

I use it with flash brackets. The coiled design isn't great for tripod or other mounted purposes do to the tight tension of the coil. I suppose you could stretch it out, but then you'd have too much slack for a bracket. Works as advertised. Never a problem.

Works great with my Nikon SB-800. I have not had any problems with the cord and I think it is a good length for outdoor portraits.

I've owned 3 of these SC-29's, only because the flash shoe mount becomes loose and rocks back and forth causing the flash not too fire. If I did not have this problem I would have needed only 1. Also the cable is too long for handheld shooting. Three feet is long enough.
My third SC-29 is enroute to Nikon as I type. Otherwise this is a great product.

I used this with an off-camera flash bracket, for a Quinceanera. The pictures turned out beautiful. Very happy with the performance of the cord.

If you plan on using this with a bracket this cable is too long and at least the T-press Stroboframe bracket covers the AF sensor.

This is actually a replacement for one I already had and found cut.
I use this quite a bit. I have a ring flash for macro shots but have had better luck with just hand holding my SB 800 in a position where I want it. I also use a bracket to keep the flash above and to the side of the camera.
When I found that my first cable had somehow been cut I wasted no time to order another one. This is a very important piece of equipment for me.
The only downside I´ve had with it is that it doesn´t work well with most off camera brackets. The hot shoe which connects to the flash is too big.

I use the AF to connect to my SB-800 and it works great. I would definitely recommend this brand over any aftermarket in China. Go for the brand and not the price. The results are worth it.

I use it with a flash extender to keep the flash gun away from the hot shoe, with glasses longer than 300 mm. Works pefectly, as expectec. The unique issue is that there is no manual coming together so you have to look for advise on the web or guess how it works.
