This is a replacement for my Nikon Coolpix camera, as I like to travel with one or two extra charged batteries so as not to miss a shot. Not only is it the perfect battery for my camera, but is the only one which fits it. Even the camera store which originally sold me the camera tried to sell me a compatible, only for me to find out that it was slightly bigger than the Nikon brand. It would not come out of the camera and had to be taken back to the store for a repairman to safely pry it out. Recently, after misplacing my back-up Nikon battery, the only battery I could find locally was a generic one. This one also was slightly bigger than the Nikon and lodged in the camera. What a relief to find an online source for the Nikon battery that is not only the right battery, but also cheaper than the compatible brands! It easily pops in (and out!!!) of my camera.

When I lost my original battery I was a little worried that the replacement wouldn't be adequate. I had bought a 2nd battery as a backup but found it dropped dead a lot quicker than the original. B&H came through with a replacement from Nikon that has held up perfectly. I plan to buy another as soon as I return from vacation.

I have had a point and shoot camera for a couple of years. I always purchase a spare battery for backup. The first battery back up purchase was a genaric brand. It did not take long until it would not hold a charge. I replaced it with a genuine Nikon battery. The Nikon brand works great and holds the charge.

Back-up battery to the original that came with camera. I ALWAYS believe in back-ups. I'm sure, every semi & Professional can tell stories that the #1 battery ran down, the swapped to #2 and continued without a break. Very normal & the way to go.

I use this battery in my Coolpix 5100. It holds a charge fairly well. I have had off-brands that held a charge longer but expired suddenly and then held no charge at all! This has not been a problem with the EN-EL5. It takes a while to recharge so I suggest having at least 2.
