Comments about Lowel LC66EX Rifa-Lite eX66 Softbox Light (120-240VAC):
Does everything I need it to do: Sets up and breaks down fast(er than an Arri light with Chimera soft box) and stows easily enough. I've used once for a three-day setup, but I'm not disappointed in it yet.
My only wish is that it had a better counterbalance built in than the one it already has. They sell an accessory balance, but I think they should just make it standard. It matters more on this light and the next size up. The smaller ones don't need it as much.

Comments about Lowel LC66EX Rifa-Lite eX66 Softbox Light (120-240VAC):
Fast set up and take down. Spring action a little tight initial, but became very fluid after a bit of use. Be sure to read the manual, and make sure that the handle is on the left side when mounted on to of a light stand. This will give the softbox a natural fall angle (if) gravity starts to affect it. There is also a small knob that tightens the 'in and out' action of the core tube. Be sure you look at the manual and understand how this works. Highly suggest using a sturdy light stand. Maybe one of those 8 footers with air cushioning.
Odd petrochemical smell on the fabric when first opening. Could be special fabric paint or heat resistant treatment. Anyway, let it air out in a well ventilated area for a day before using it.
EXCELLLENT quality of light. 750 watts is more than enough with a modern camera. Not sold with the bulb. Be sure to also purchase a bulb at checkout.

Used in professional filming and taping. These typically last about 5 years before the whole fixture goes out. That's why only 4 stars.

Great for interviews, meeting rooms, or basic close up outdoor lighting.
You just pull it out, plug it up and you're ready. No hassle operation.
The only thing negative I can think of about this product is that I don't have another one.

Comments about Lowel LC66EX Rifa-Lite eX66 Softbox Light (120-240VAC):
This is a wonderful soft light that is very compact and extremely easy and fast to set up. It is easier, lighter and cheaper to use than a chimera with an arri or other type type of light. Instead of fumbling with the fast-ring and all the little parts of a chimera, which then have to be affixed to the light, this light is fully assembled. All you have to do is pull the back tight then lock it. Put it on a stand and voila!...30 second soft source setup! It can also take many different varieties of lamps, making it an affordable and very flexible soft light. You also lose less light because the light doesn't first go through a lens.

Comments about Lowel LC66EX Rifa-Lite eX66 Softbox Light (120-240VAC):
Lowel's Rifa-Lite is a great choice when your crew is small and you have to work fast. It weighs next to nothing, sets up in about a minute, and provides a nice, soft light without a lot of fuss.I bought the [$]balance bar and strongly recommend it to anyone purchasing a Rifa -- the instrument would be way too front-heavy without it. In fact, I don't consider the bar to be optional.I very much like the Daylight Fluorescent Lamphead as it increases the flexibility of the Rifa and allows me to carry fewer cc gels.

Comments about Lowel LC66EX Rifa-Lite eX66 Softbox Light (120-240VAC):
I have an existing Lowel kit and wanted to integrate a softbox into my toolbox of lighting. I thought about getting a whole new kit or just buying the appropriate Chimera. The Rifa-Lite fit in perfectly. It was less expensive and uses the existing stands. The 750 creates a great fill and it can be scaled back as well. This softbox is great for anyone who currently owns a Lowel kit.

Comments about Lowel LC66EX Rifa-Lite eX66 Softbox Light (120-240VAC):
I bought the Rifa-Lite Ex66 for use as a portable light for portrait photography. Collapses easily and neatly. Assembling takes a few tries to get right, and it takes a bit of strength but the speediness and ease compared to other systems is incredible. Light is soft and lovely. I recommend a quality heavyweight pro lightstand. Light weight stands without a wide base will tip easily as the softbox is quite top-heavy. This size is especially great for 3/4 length portraits. The carrying case does not come with a strap attached, which is unfortunate.
