Comments about Mamiya Lens Hood for All Lenses 127mm to 250mm (with 77mm Filter Size) for RB67 and RZ67 - Replacement:
A very good hood for both stray light and impact protection. Once on it stays on and is easily folded back when not needed, and yet still protects front of lens. I even use this for my 24-120 at the long end and simply fold back when going wide. Any lens with a 77mm filter ring can benefit with this product. It does significantly add to the diameter of the lens so packing it could be problematic.

What makes this more useful than the original hood is that is collapsesand takes up virtually no space in your bag. Does a great job of preventing lens flare.

I purchased the Mamiya Lens Hood based on a recommendation from a good friend who uses his equipment in very hectic scenarios. I haven't looked back :). I like that we get excellent protection, yet the hood collapses considerably so it fits in the bag just as Nikon's own.
I would highly recommend this hood for any Nikon (or Canon) 70-200 lens.

This is a great replacement for my OEM Nikon 70-200mm II Hood. I'm a sports shooter and using this soft rubber hood in basketball games makes safety sense. Very well made...nothing cheap about this product.

Though this hood is designed for Mamiya lenses, it works extremely well for my Canon 70-200 f/2.8L, version I and II lens. It's extremely durable and will last for many years. Two nice features are that it collapses back onto my lenses for storage and that I can still use my lens caps with it.

I bought this and tried it on Nikon 24-70 and 70-200. On the former, there was some vignetting at the wider focal lengths; but not so with the 70-200. I think what I like best about it is that it collapses (the circumference remains the same but the width -- as viewing the hood from the side with it mounted on a lens -- is reduced). Feels like a very sturdy piece of rubber. Looks imposing (ha, ha).

I love Nikon, but the hood on the 70-200mm falls off all the time. Even my wife knows the sound of that hood hitting the floor.
This is a great work around, though it is a little more prone to flares. Upside is shooting through glass like at a zoo, you just press it up against the glass and gone are the reflections.

Very well made. Thick rubber, metal rings, and 77mm filter threads on the inside. Slight vignetting at 70mm on the Nikon 70-200mm II. Only a little shorter than the stock Nikon hood, but much easier on the lens for bumps against objects or people in tight quarters. Retracts in length to storage position, but it's wider than the stock hood. May not fit some cases if they're tight with the stock hood.

Works great on a Canon 70-200mm F2.8L IS II. Slightly smaller than the Canon ET-87 that comes with the lens. The Mamiya is made of rubber and collapses down when storing the lens. The solid rubber construction is great for protecting the lens. The hood screws in so it will not fall off.

A must have replacement for the factory 77mm. It is well made, attatches easy and stays out of the way when not needed.

I bought this lens hood for a trip I took to Spain over the summer. I took a big backpack full of gear to shoot as I traveled from city to city. And for my trip to Carmel, CA. This hood actually stays quite secure to the lens, unlike the hood that came standard with my lens. I heard about it from Scott Kelby on his D-Town show.
I decided as soon as I saw it that it would be a worthwhile purchase for the inexpensiveness. It just makes it easy to whip it out of the bag, throw it on the body, and start shooting. You don't have to waste the 5-10 seconds it can take to mount the standard lens hood. Takes up very little space. Perfect. And for as easy as it is to change its position, this thing is well made. It's stiff and not flimsy.
The only real downside as I see it is that it doesn't protect from as much lens flare as the standard hood from the shortest throw length.

Great replacement for the plastic hood on Nikon's lens. Diameter if collapsed is much larger then the lens' diameter though. Lens cap snaps on without problems.

I screw this hood into my polarizer threads when photographing water sports. Don't have to remove this hood to adjust polarizer. Much better!

I use this on a Nikon 70-200mm VRII, since it is more convenient for travel than the supplied hood. It is very sturdy, being made from heavy rubber. The downside is that it doesn't fold that compactly.
