Nikon BL-3 Battery Chamber Cover for MB-D10, MB-40 Battery Packs
The Nikon BL-3 Battery Chamber Cover is used with the MB-40 or MB-D10 multi-power battery pack with the EN-EL4 and EN-EL4a batteries. The MB-D10 battery pack is for use with the Nikon D700, D300, and D300S digital cameras. The MB-40 is for use with the F6 film camera.

What's to say about this item? Either you need it and can't really do without or you don't.
If you've got a camera that uses EN-EL4 batteries (F6/MB-40, D2 series, D3, D300/MB-D10, etc), then having an extra BL-3 attached to a spare EN-EL4 in your kit makes swapping batteries much quicker. The included case (which holds the combined BL-3/EN-EL4 unit) is pretty handy too.

I shoot news and sports for a local newspaper which uses Nikon products exclusively. We have been using the battery pack with 8 AA batteries for over a year. These always ran out before the game was over.(football, basketball, soccer,etc.) In the two weeks the BL-3 has been in use with the EN-EL4 battery, we have saved at least 32-AA alkaline batteries. That's big money savings. There is no down side to that!

I own a D3 and a D300s, 3 for photos and the 300s for video. We all know shooting video kills batteries. I love the fact that I don't need to purchase more D300s batteries for my video projects after buying this adapter and a vertical grip. All of my D3 batteries are now compatible with my 300s! The EN-EL4's last longer too, so I don't have to change them near as much as the EN-EL3's.
A must have if you already own EN-EL4's and want to use them with your vertical grip!
It is a little$pricey though if you don't own a D3 & want to purchase the EN-EL4's (&70ish) and a charger ($100ish) separately..

This little accessory lets you use EN-EL4 batteries in your MB-40 (for F6) and / or MB-D10 (D300(s), D700) battery grips and is necessary if you want make use of the higher frame rate feature. Further more those batteries deliver higher capacity which gives you a lot more shots per charging cycle. Unfortunately that item isn't always on stock. It should be part of a battery grip kit.

How can you review a cover? I paid enough for the MB-D10 grip, the EN-EL4a battery, and the charger. This should have come with the grip. I love Nikon equipment, but they sure do nickle and dime you to death.
