Very solid boom. I recommend having a 10 pound sand bag to hang from the hook if you extend it fully. Fits perfect on a C-stand and extends far enough to get a softbox over your camera without having the stand in your shot. Built to last and made in Italy.

Comments about Avenger D600 Mini Boom 4.25 - 7' (1.2 - 2.1 m):
First off, be warned that smaller lightsands will not work out of the box with this, as it needs a "baby" pin 5/8 which normal stands don't have. A normal 5/8" is too short for this, theres a simple adapter i had to pick up to fix that though its not much of an issue if you know ahead of time.
I wanted a solid boom i would not have to worry about, this fits that to a T.
It extends alot so even if you aren't booming your lenses you can use it to add a fair bit of extra reach to your light stand.
It locks solidly enough that theres no "creeping" or if you aren't using a heavy modifier or long extension you can probably get away with no counter-weights too, which is perfect for a hair light.
It is however chunky, and heavy. And solid.

I read the reviews here and made the mistake of assuming that folks were exaggerating the weight and build quality of this boom. Uh, no. The reviews are NOT exaggerated. My 17 year old son, who weighs about 130 pounds, can literally do pull-ups on this thing.
I bought this with the intention of flying a Canon Speedlight. Can you say overkill?? Like others here, I don't actually currently own a light stand that's designed to support a boom of this weight and quality.
Given the light stands that I *do* own, and for the type of work that I do, I should probably send it back - but instead I'm going to keep it and "grow into it".

This mini-Boom works great in my small studio. It's proven to be a strong and reliable workhorse usually supporting a monobloc strobe with a large softbox.

This boom is so sturdy it seems one could do pull-ups on it without it so much as bending even slightly. This is an extremely reliable boom and can easily withstand any studio gear at any length (remember weights to balance it!)

Comments about Avenger D600 Mini Boom 4.25 - 7' (1.2 - 2.1 m):
The build quality of this item is better than I thought it would be. Very sturdy and high quality metal. The hook on the end makes it really easy to add or remove weight quickly--but make sure it doesn't turn in your hand and the weight falls off the hook. This boom fits perfectly on my Matthews C-stand.
Careful, though, when unloosening the screw handles. Make sure you have a good grip on the boom in case it is not quite balanced.
I've really enjoyed mine and I'm glad I purchased this one.

This is my first Avenger product and all the parts and feel of it is very high end, meaning that its built to last. I have three tripods that are not avenger but look as if they were, the quality isn't the same as the originals. Very happy with this purchase.

I was worried about what the quality of the arm was gonna be like. I should have known better already owning some of their equipment. Its all high quality and built to last. It is a bit on the heavy side but the durability makes it bearable. If your thinking about picking up the Mini Matth Boom from Matthews this is a great alternative.

Dynamite boom to pair with a heavy stand like a c-stand. Fabulous extension with firm, assured clamping. Bowing is really not an issue at this level quality of boom, just counterweighting. Using this with AB 800 + 22" beauty dish + mods. Fit & finish is very nice.

I use this boom on an Avenger C stand to fly a strobe over head for portait lighting. It's sturdy enough to hold a White Lightning X3200 w/ a 22" beauty dish and a 25lb sand bag as a counter weight. Very nice, sturdy, heavy unit. Highly recommend.
