This boom is perfect for holding up heavy monolights with modifiers. With a proper counter-balance, it's as solid as a rock. I highly recommend it.

This boom is strong and well built. If you have a decent stand, this inexpensive purchase will give you that hair light you need. Long reach. Easy to balance. Just add and position your light at the desired length, counter weight, test then raise to the desired height.

Was looking for a solid boom for my white lightning 1600's as well as mola beauty dish. A pretty heavy combination
This with an avenger c stand did the trick.. love it

I love, love, love this. I have purchased many stands in the past but none have been this nice. I will have this forever. This one is not made cheap. It is heavy but at least then you know its good. On top of that, it will not blow down in the wind. You will need to get the Avenger stand to go with it but believe me, you will not regret this purchase at all.

Very solid boom. I recommend having a 10 pound sand bag to hang from the hook if you extend it fully. Fits perfect on a C-stand and extends far enough to get a softbox over your camera without having the stand in your shot. Built to last and made in Italy.

Comments about Avenger D600 Mini Boom 4.25 - 7' (1.2 - 2.1 m):
First off, be warned that smaller lightsands will not work out of the box with this, as it needs a "baby" pin 5/8 which normal stands don't have. A normal 5/8" is too short for this, theres a simple adapter i had to pick up to fix that though its not much of an issue if you know ahead of time.
I wanted a solid boom i would not have to worry about, this fits that to a T.
It extends alot so even if you aren't booming your lenses you can use it to add a fair bit of extra reach to your light stand.
It locks solidly enough that theres no "creeping" or if you aren't using a heavy modifier or long extension you can probably get away with no counter-weights too, which is perfect for a hair light.
It is however chunky, and heavy. And solid.

I read the reviews here and made the mistake of assuming that folks were exaggerating the weight and build quality of this boom. Uh, no. The reviews are NOT exaggerated. My 17 year old son, who weighs about 130 pounds, can literally do pull-ups on this thing.
I bought this with the intention of flying a Canon Speedlight. Can you say overkill?? Like others here, I don't actually currently own a light stand that's designed to support a boom of this weight and quality.
Given the light stands that I *do* own, and for the type of work that I do, I should probably send it back - but instead I'm going to keep it and "grow into it".
