The Sunpak DigiPro Compact B is a 5 leg-section tripod that collapses to a compact 13.6". This is accomplished by eliminating the leg locks used with other tripods. With this tripod, to unlock the legs you simply pull down the leg sections, and with one half twist all leg sections get locked at once. To collapse the legs you give it a half twist and simply push them together.
This tripod features a pan/tilt head with a built-in quick release system. The center column converts into a short column for low-angle work, and the rubber leg tips provide traction outdoors and protect surfaces indoors.
Lightweight and sized perfectly for fitting into a backpack, the DigiPro Compact B tripod is an excellent vacation tripod when traveling. Ideal for backpackers wanting support for a camera or camcorder.

Used it for vacation Travel to Mexico. Lets make this easy, It fits in your suit case, it has a small case to carry on your shoulders and it easily supports a Canon T1I with a 75-300mm IS lens. it's light and easier to walk with then a full tri-pod. and 1/4 the price of a carbon fiber tri-pod which costs 5x more. I took some amazing time lapse photo's on the beach with this tri-pod. If your very rich, buy a carbon one... cause why not? if your not vacationing on your own yacht... the purchase this one and never look back.

I purchased this tripod because I wanted something that was small and easily transported. It actually fit perfectly in my backpack (a plus). The built quality is ok. My only true gripe was the assembly. I had to personal use thread lock and reassemble the unit to make it stable. The bolts and screws kept loosing up on the head making it a pain in the you know what to work with. After it was assembled correctly the unit works great. [*]

This is quite an excellent little tripod. I love that it can get so low to the ground for my macro shots and also to about 4 feet? Its quite versatille. Seems sturdy enough for me. Its not heavy at all and can be folded to 13.6", so its very easy to carry it around. It took a little practice to get used to the way the legs lock, but once you get used to it, its great.

If you are searching for a tripod that you can carry everywhere, this is a good solution.
Closed is very compact, only 13.6", and open you have 52.2" of stability.
The head is good, stable lock and quick to adjust. The twist-n-pull legs are not so usual but the stability isn't compromise. Weight is good for a tripod made in metal.
The bubble level is not visible if you have a big camera.
The quick-release plate is too small and not so handy to lock/unlock on tripod and on camera.
I thing that is a good solution if you work alone and want mobility for your photo/video works.

What a NICE and LIGHTWEIGHT TRIPOD!
And when my friends looked at it, they use to say: WHAT??!
That's because it is so small and compact... but when you collapse it, it goes to a perfect size for most of the pictures you will get.
Comes with a small bag that is so nice if you don't have space in your camera bag.
My only concern was about the head... for me, small... but it works fine.

I bought this tripod for a Washington DC trip to use with my Panasonic GF1.
While there, I actually saw a guy with a Gitzo tripod I was considering splurging on. I leaned over to my girlfriend and told her, that's a tripod I was considering. It costs about 10 times as much as mine.
She responded, Wow xxx for a tripod? that's ridiculous why would anyone do that?
Why indeed. This is a great little tripod for what it is. Not to say there aren't faults - it feels cheap (which it was not docked for, since it is cheap) - almost too plasticy.
The panhead is adequate but pretty dreadful for precision.
And if you require stableness beyond "pretty darn good", this is not that.
But for what it offers it's hard to pass up - folds down to that all-important barrier of 13 or 14 inches that allows it to be stuffed in a backpack or bag. Yet it still extends to almost eye level. And I love the locking & extension mechanism. It makes extending the tripod very quick and easy.

Its hard to have an "all-in-one" tripod that support heavy weight, and is small and compact. This tripod does a very good job. It folds up small enough to fit inside my back pack. I thought I would have to buckle it to the outside... its small enough to fit inside. I believe is holds 4.4lbs? I was able to use my canon T2i with sigma 18-250mm without any problems. The legs are sturdy when locked. I was worried about that from other reviews. I have found no problem with that. Its a great price for a light, compact tripod for traveling and hiking.

This is a great tripod, Very compact, fits in my backpack and not very heavy. I used this tripod with my DSLR with a battery grip and zoom lens, It held my camera up and took fantastic night shots with it. I am 5'7" and fully extended the tripod was very comfortable to use. Didn't have to hunch over too much. I shopped around alot for a nice travel tripod and will recommend this one over and over.

Havent put it to much use yet but is very quick and easy to set up. Nothing could be simpler than twist extend/retract and lock. Cant understand comments in reviews about complexity or difficulty of this process.

This is compact enough to carry with you on a trip but tall enough to get the job done. It is easy to use once you get used to how the legs come out. It was difficult to know when the legs were actually locked but you get used to the feel of the locking. The legs are not as solid as my regualr sized tripod but still sturdy enough to hold my DSLR with 24-105 4L lens attached. It is alittle hard to get the head to attach to the camera tight enough.

We were looking for a good backpacking option, and we believe we found it, sturdy enough to hold our gear, but light enough to not feel like a burden on modest hikes.
We like that you can quickly set the legs and adjust to the terrain as opposed to the "tent pole" types. Very sturdy.
While it is a light 2.2 it still feels a bit heavy, but it doesn't feel like it is flimsy.

I bought this because I needed a compact tripod that could support my Pentax k-x DSLR, but was light enough to carry with me while hiking around on vacation. This tripod does an excellent job. It comes with a backpack to carry it in, and it is extremely quick to set up thanks in part to the quick release head. They way to unfold it is also unique. Instead of releasing clips for each segment of each leg, you just twist the end of each leg until it clicks 4 times and then pull. Twist the other way to lock it. It was able to maintain stability even when I had the 55-300mm lens on, which is the heaviest one I own.
The only major downside is that it's not very tall because of its small size when folded, however it is taller than several other similar sized tripods I tried.

This is a great little travel tripod. It fits nicely in my back back as I used it on a recent hiking trip in Sedona, Az. Easy and fast to set up and it held my Pentax K-7 very nicely. With my lens my and filter my camera is about 2 pounds. It was a little windy on top of a ridge in Sedona but the tripod was steady. I would recommend this tripod.

I own a Nikon D80 and have been mostly using tripods for travel photography. My current tripod is about 26" in length when folded and weighs at least 10 lbs.
I purchased this tripod because I got tired of not being able to fit a DSLR tripod into a regular size back pack and because I wanted a much lighter tripod to carry around in my travels.
This little baby is absolutely awesome. It's the best tripod I have found in terms of:
- Max load weight
- Min folded lengh
- Max open length
- Min overall weight
So far it has held my DSLR perfectly and it's so little, it can be carried in a medium to large-size purse. It comes with a very convenient carrying bag and once in the bag no one can tell what it is.

I took this tripod along on a plane trip to Savannah and used it with my Canon F1n to take pictures of landscapes and houses.
It is amazingly strong for its size, and it fits wonderfully into a suitcase along with my usual clothes and junk. It holds the Canon (between 2 and 3 pounds with 35mm lens) quite steady. The way of extending the legs is clever - basically pulling smaller tubes out of larger and twisting each section until it clicks to a tight position.
The legs take a bit of getting used to, as they do not always seem to tighten completely on the first set-up. Also using the head worried me at first. It seemed a little flimsy at first, but really wasn't. Nevertheless, I think I will add a Phillips head screw driver to my kit, just in case. Finally, the detachable screw mount must be checked carefully when one is attaching it, as it is possible to push the locking lever the wrong way and not really clamp down the screw plate.

Comments about Sunpak DigiPro Compact B Tripod w/ Pan/Tilt Head (Black):
I was looking for a tripod can be folded down to less than 15 inches, and also the highest extended height. This will be used for my HD Camcorder. Surprisingly, there aren't too many manufacturers out there that can meet this. This tripod folds down to less than 13.5 inches, and extends out to 53.5 inches.
This tripod can fit easily in my backpack. It's great for travel. To open and extend the tripod legs, one must twist in direction to unlock a leg, pull out to extend, then twist the opposite direction to unlock. A little trick at first, but once I got used to it, I had no problem setting up and taking down.
