As Pentax's premium porro prism binocular, the PCF WP models offer astounding optical performance with a stylish design that's fully waterproof & fogproof. Ideal for harsh climates full of impacts and extremes of temperature and precipitation, their aspherical lens elements and BaK-4 porro prisms with phase coatings render your observations into the razor-sharp stratosphere of world class optics. Each model in the series gives a whopping 20mm or more of eye relief, and they'll all take the optional tripod adapter. The PCF WP II 8x40 is a classic birder's tool, and is also ideal for most stadium sports applications.
This is the "II" version of the popular PCF WP series, featuring improvements in the sculpting of the housing as well as the eyecups.

Comments about Pentax 8x40 PCF WP II Binocular:
I purchased the Pentax 8 x 40 PCF Binoculars mostly for birding and nature. My previous pair of binocs were also pentax and I loved them. They are 20 years old and still work great. I am giving those to my son. The new pair has many improvements that I enjoy. Waterproof and sealed tight, locking diopler focus and adjustable eye cups for when I where glasses. The optics are outstanding. Viewing is sharp with exceptional clarity. For the money you will not find a better pair of binoculars.

Comments about Pentax 8x40 PCF WP II Binocular:
Spectacular quality 8 x 40 binoculars, very heavy duty construction and feel. The image is truly amazing for binoculars on this price or any price range, very bright with great eye relief for viewing with glasses, quick and responsive focusing wheel, very well positioned by the way. nice strap and heavy duty canvas bag. Image is as good or BETTER than my XW eyepieces on a PF 80 ED scope!

Comments about Pentax 8x40 PCF WP II Binocular:
Strongly recommend. I bought these binos to fill a gap in the optics I own. They are better than I expected, well made, sturdy with great optics. Bright, tack sharp color correct images rival binos costing several times as much. You will be glad you bought these as they deliver extream bang for the few bucks they cost. Water, fog & rain proof + Pentax lifetime warranty, what more do you need? Great eye relief for eyeglass wearers. Focus wheel tighter to turn than most binos but not a problem with a little use, maybe a plus as they hold a focus even if the wheel is touched. Buy 'em Dano!

Comments about Pentax 8x40 PCF WP II Binocular:
These Pentax binoculars give super sharp images and seem well made. I have other binoculars, but none focus as sharply or as perfectly. I have noticed nothing in the optics I could call a flaw. They are fully adjustable to the eyes in every respect. As an eye-glass wearer, I find their eye relief completely adequate. This model is made in China, but the only thing I would criticize it the fit of the lens caps.

Comments about Pentax 8x40 PCF WP II Binocular:
I use these binoculars for bird watching and they are wonderful - clear, lightweight but sturdy, easy to use. Nothing is real comfortable over glasses, but these are not too bad. I just bought a second pair for my husband here at B&H. Their price was unbeatable and I checked EVERYWHERE. [...]

Comments about Pentax 8x40 PCF WP II Binocular:
Bought these, like these. Took the advice of the previous reviewer and am pleased to learn the review was spot on. Sometimes you just gotta believe. I'm impressed and so is my birder friend.
Comments about Pentax 8x40 PCF WP II Binocular:
The Pentax 8x40's more than met my expectations. Field center is very sharp, with typical fall off toward the edge that is not bad at all. The weight, fit and feel of the Pentax standard porro prism design fits the hands very well, in fact, they are excellent for balance and steady observing. The rubberized body is very tactile and comfortable. The focus is a little stiff, but I like it that way... no wandering. Great features are internal focusing and superior waterproofing against dunks (up to 3' deep). The screw down eyecups with indents are the best I have seen. I have owned Leica 7x42 binoculars that cost over $800. The Pentax 8x40s are almost as good for a 6th of the price. Sure, the Leicas are sharper toward the edge and have a little wider field of view (1 deg.), but under normal viewing conditions, you are looking at the center of the field anyhow, and move to follow objects, making edge sharpness less important. And remember, you can buy 6 pairs of the Pentax for the price of one Leica. That means you can USE these binoculars and not be worried about them all the time, like you would a precious jewel. I am a professional photographer and a sharpness freak - and I rate these binoculars very high. Unless you need to impress your friends with Leica or Zeiss, have deep pockets, and have a deep psychological need to baby your gear, you are better off with the Pentax binoculars. Great optics, even better feel and balance, a great user, and a throw-away price. What more do you want?
