Comments about Wolverine 80GB FlashPac 7000, 7-in-1 Portable Data Storage Device:
I actually bought the Wolverine 80GB FlashPac 7000 for my father-in-law to use with the Canon SD 950 IS 12MP digital point and shoot, that I just purchased for him. He liked the 950 I got for my wife a few months ago and wanted something smaller and easier to use than his older Canon G-5. So in keeping with simplicity he also liked the storage concept I use with my Wolverine 40GB FlashPac 7000 that I have had for the past couple of years...so you don't have to buy numerous memory cards for your camera. The FlashPac 7000 is simple to use, charges fairly rapidly, has good battery life, and is versital. My wife and I take digital photos with cameras that use different types of storage cards, mine CF and her's SD. The FlashPac 7000 has slots for most popular cards. Download time is pretty good. It takes 15-20 minutes to transfer a full 4GB CF card. Also, it is easy to send the stored photo files from the FlashPac to your PC, just "plug and play". As usual I purchased from B&H Photo, very reliable and good prices. By the way if you are ever in NY City be sure to take the time to visit their main store. It is truly amazing and will blow you away!!

Comments about Wolverine 80GB FlashPac 7000, 7-in-1 Portable Data Storage Device:
I purchased my Wolverine as a way to backup my files coming back from weddings and location shoots. At first I tought this was the cat's meow. It's download time is painfully slow, but this was never an issue because I would drop the cards in and they would be backed up by the time I got back to the studio. I was more than happy to shave off some speed in exchange for saving myself over $100 for a faster unit. Then the problems started to arise.
I had some type of interface glitch once where for about a week I couldn't clean off old files. Then for no reason it started working fine again.
However, there is more to the story. The plug input (to charge the drive) was always stiff and one day it broke off. At first I thought a screw or a clip had come loose inside the drive...no big deal I'll open it up and put it back together. Upon opening up the drive I saw, much to my surprise, there was no screw or clip; the female plug was just sautered down. I figured it was just a matter of time before it broke off after popping the plug in and out to charge it. Luckily I can still charge it by attaching it straight to my computer's USB port. Annoying, but it gets the job done.
This unit would meet the needs of any amateur user but I would not recommend this to anyone who's livelihood depends on successfully backing up and securing their data.

Comments about Wolverine 80GB FlashPac 7000, 7-in-1 Portable Data Storage Device:
Product is very slow to download and no data info to show files loaded. Lost many files thinking my cards loaded when they didn't. This is an 80GB storage unit and it displayed only 71GB and then went down to 60GB and I had no information on it. I only used this unit about 10 times and started getting "copy error" messages. I reloaded the FAT32 file and thought it would solve the problem. Seemed to work for one 2GB card then the unit would not shut off. Froze up and had to wait until the battery went dead. Now it does not work at all and the company has not answered my e-mails. I would never buy another Wolverine product again.

I'm taking the Wolverine on a 5 week backpacking trip in China. So far it seems pretty reliable as a backup for photos, I've taken a few test runs with it and everything works out of the box. Just pop the CF card in and press Copy.

Comments about Wolverine 80GB FlashPac 7000, 7-in-1 Portable Data Storage Device:
This product did serve it's purpose, which was to give me a place to put all of my photos when I traveled around the world for a few months. But it definitely has issues.
It's slow, so you wind up walking away while it transfer's files, but if you're gone when it finishes you don't know whether or not it actually got everything (a confirmation does appear when it's done, but it disappears so I usually missed it).
Additionally, there is no way to verify your content. You can't see the pictures, and can't view the folders either. I often copied my shots twice just to be certain, but who wan's to do that.
I also have issues with this drive now because most of my data is corrupt. That didn't happen until after a year, and I have no clue how it happened, but it troubles me. It didn't cause any major problems for me, but I would't go with this brand again.
My recommendation is to go with something that has a display. I know they're a little more expensive, but I think it'll be worth it. Plus... if your wolverine hard drive goes bad as mine did, it'll be worthless.
Comments about Wolverine 80GB FlashPac 7000, 7-in-1 Portable Data Storage Device:
This is a simple device which can store a large amount ofdata. I use this when I need to free up more memory cards.I take this on vacation and to weddings where I know I willshoot more memory than I have. I shoot about 10 gigs a daywhen I am on vacation and so at the end of the day I simplyload all of the cards on to my hard drive. This is a simpledevice to use and the OS is easy to navigate. There areonly two buttons on the device one for power and the otherto start the transfer. You will need to take a powerconverter if you travel international so you can charge thebattery every night and to make sure you can transfer all ofyour data. When they say you can only transfer 6 GB of datathey are fairly close.
Expertise: Owner of a small photography company
Problems Encountered: The battery life is short; take a charger or a many extrabatteries. The CF reader is not as deep as I would like itto be when inserting CF cards, the other reader which reads6 different types of cards works great and is plenty deep asmost SD, XD ext. card readers are. Just be careful wheninserting the CF card in to the reader slot there are 40pins that could easily be bent. The HD only formats in FATwhich makes it more complicated to format on a PC.
Items I Recommend: NP60 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery (7.4v, 1750mAh)
