Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
I was tired of using my point & shoot at my Kids' school events, and getting grainy dark photographs. I decided that a SLR was the best route; I have used this camera for almost 2 years now. Its a perfect entry level unit with a world of options for the avid photographer who is looking for an affordable entry to SLR's. the pre programed settings were all I ever needed for family vacations, and events. I ended up purchasing two additional lenses, as well as a flash unit as well. When i am ready to upgrade, i can easily tranition to a body only scenario and use my upgrades for years to come.
the smaller LCD does not bother me...

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
I'm primarily a film photographer but for my final semester I had to take digital photo classes to satisfy my minor. This is my first digital SLR. It's easy to use. I like the auto-focus option since my eyes are sometimes off on the fine focus. It's neat being able to see my pictures on the view screen after I take them. I also like having all the lens options. The built in flash is also a bonus. For students it's very affordable. Nothing bad to say about it so far. All smiles here.

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
This is a great learning camera - I'm coming from point-and-shoot, so I needed a camera that would allow me to learn how to properly use aperture, ISO, and shutter speed. Also wanted to replace my old camera, and this has been a real treat.
I know I'll outgrow this thing, but it'll keep me for a long time, and I'll still hold on to it even after I upgrade.
Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
This is the first digital camera I have owned. It was purchased with the 18-55mm kit lens and the 75-300 mm f4-5.6 zoom telephoto. I added a speedlite 430 within a week. My wife wanted me to buy a digital camera last Christmas as a gift for me and to make it easier to send pictures to our dog club's newsletter. I chose it because of my previous good experience with Canon film SLRs. I found it very easy to use as a snapshot camera. When trying to take indoor pictures when flash cannot be used, or is ineffective, I found out that I could not get shots that are easy with my film camera with the fixed focal length lenses I have for that camera. Playing with this camera and taking pictures both film and digital I am getting an appreciation of the possibilities and limitations of digital photography. The consumer grade lenses are of fair quality (Canon's FD and FL mount lenses I have for my film camera are better optically and seem more rugged) and , partly from being zoom lenses are very slow. I am currently planning to purchase a 50mm f1.4 USM and 100 mm f2 USM lenses. Being used to more manual control, I find that I need to work hard and spend a lot of time reading the book to control the features. My AE1 has lasted me since 1979 and still works great. I do not expect the Rebel to last as well, with the plastic body.Overall, this is probably a good first camera for someone starting in photography.
Expertise: Experienced Amature
Problems Encountered: The buttons on the back are easy to accidentally press and not know. Several times, I accidentally pushed the timer button and was confused that the camera delayed taking the shot I wanted.

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
This camera is simplified from its bigger sibling 20D. It has the same sensor and much of the electronics underneath albeit different body. Excellent camera for the price...The body is not as rigid as the more expensive sibling. Make sure you don't drop it. The kit lens (15-55mm) is mediocre quality, even the basic 50/1.8 is much sharper lens. Upgrade to a better lens as soon as possible.
Expertise: Advance
Problems Encountered: Wish it has second wheel for aperture. A wee bit too small for my hand. The optional vertical grip fixed my problem.

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
This is an excellent all-around camera for an amateur, butnot one for a professional photographer. I have hadwonderful experiences with this camera for over a year now,and it has helped me learn and grow into the photographerwhich I am today. The Rebel offers a wide range of shutterspeeds and aperture, as well as compact flash. The ISOfeature is great to have, although it seems that few peopleutilize it. It is a shame that most people stick with theautomatic mode, since this camera has so much to offer. Now that the price has dropped almost $500, this is afantastic camera for someone with a low budget. However, image sharpness and quality is sometimes questionable, andtherefore for the more advanced photographer I wouldrecommend a more complex (and therefore more expensive)camera. Canon lenses are fantastic, and are compatible withall versions of Canon SLR cameras (both film and digital.)This camera is certainly a great first camera for anyonemoving from film to DSLR, and it definitely does its job well.

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
I expected a lot with this and got more. This camera is fairly light weight for what punch it packs. The shutter is lightning fast. There are many different photo options if you are a trained photographer...more than I know how to use. And I love that you can buy different lenses for this. Fabulous camera!
Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
My husband and I got this camera a couple of years ago. We love it even more today than before. It takes GREAT picture. There is no delay time between taking one picture (as most other cameras you have to wait for the picture to be download into the camera). I would recommend that you go ahead and invest in a larger lens. There's a large difference in zoom power. Go for it...you'll love it!
Problems Encountered: None really. Still learning you utilize the camera and all it's capabilities.

This is a great first DSLR for me. It's loaded with features. One I especially like is the long exposure noise reduction. It comes in handy on those starlit nights when I'm imaging deep space objects through my telescopes. The large 8.2 megapixel imaging chip produces high quality poster size prints fit for any gallery. This camera even makes my everyday images more professional looking. The software that comes with it is impressive.

This canon Rebel is the most fantastic Single lens Reflex camera ever Before I bought this camera I read several reviews, all of them are said great things about it if you are a freelance photo journalist, looking for A great camera to use for both work and personal use this is the camera for you! This camera is so easy to use yet it is very, very, high tec.It looks hard to use but looks can be deceiving.the controls are simple but do take a bit of getting used to but that is to be expected. If you have the rebel T2 date this is the bigger digital sister. the only thing to keep in mind is the picture that you are about to take.
Problems Encountered: none other than if you have bigger hands than me the XT might be slightly weird at first but not so bad that you can'teasily get used to it.

I am a Photo Student but i purchased this before i startedtaking pictures, It is great for good lighting conditions, with large black areas it starts to add weird color lines,It is awsome for the price, i would HIGHLY recomend forbeginners, it is easy to teach yourself about some idea's ofphotography but be prepared to upgrade. If you areinterested in B&W stick with film, the tonal ranges is veryreduced compared to film, but for color it does an awsomejob, i would recomend eventually taking a few classes orchecking out photography magazines and books at your localbooks store, and for those podcast fans there arephotography tips for you on there.
Problems Encountered: B&W abilities and did not achieve pure black in color

I bought the Rebel XT, 6mths ago, and have found 0 faults.I love the custom settings. I use the P (program AE) setting the most. I have the 18-55 EF-S, 28-90 EF-S, 100-300, and the Sigma APO DG W/Macro. If I had to do it again, I'd buy this camera.
Problems Encountered: You can only use the view finder to take pictures, but not really a problem

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
This unit takes very excellent photos, particularly of sports, action, etc. Having had many years with 35mm cameras, Ihad to remind myself to be STILL with this one ! Once I got the right lens for the Rebel (28-135mm w/Image Stabalization) it has been virtually impossible to capture a poor photo with this unit. Well worth the money!
Problems Encountered: The lens that comes with this unit ( 18-55mm ) is not reliable.I would recommend something with Image Stabalization. The instruction manual is vague & doesn't present enough information for the average person to understand this camera. I would say there needs to be a definitive how-to book for this camera as well as others.

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
The camera takes very good pictures, although I'm not completely sold on digital media yet. Most of my shooting is done in program mode, because it allows a little more flexibility than full auto for the type of shooting I have been using it for (scenics mostly). The Av and Tv modes have also been useful, although the Auto-depth mode seems to have some glitches. I've been using for about a month, and still haven't figured out all of the features. I gave it a 3 on design, because some of the functions are difficult if you have large fingers, it seems to be a little on the light side as far as being able to provide a stable platform, and the release is a little hair-triggered. I get about 130 pictures on a 512 CF card in fine mode. I haven't tried RAW mode yet but will soon.
Problems Encountered: I put a Cokin System A series circular polarizer on it and it vignetted horribly on the wide angle setting with the EF-S 18-55 lens. Also, there seems to be a lot of play in the front of the lens with the Cokin system attached. I would recommend against using a Cokin System on the EF-S lens for this reason.

Comments about Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (a.k.a. 350D)Digital Camera (Silver) w/ 18-55mm Lens:
Being a complete SLR rookie I was hesitant about purchasing such a nice camera. I've had it for a week now and have taken over 750 photos. My subjects have varied from an indoor band concert to close-ups of flowers, spiders and such.I've also taken quite a few landscape photos. I apparently have a knack for close-up photos as they have turned out the best so far. I also purchased the EF 75-300 mm f/4-5.6III USM Zoom. I have a lot to learn but I love this camera! Auto mode is dummy-proof.

This camera takes excellent pictures in Auto Mode. The camera adapts well to any photo situation. Outside of auto mode I am still learning. I am very pleased having bought this, and not another point and shoot after my previous camera broke. I would also recommend the IS lenses which are very helpful if you are not using a tripod.

I have been using this camera for 4 weeks, and its awesome, it has a lot of features. If you want to make a great investment this is the camera you're looking for, it can be used for pro users and new usersDon't buy point and shoot cameras, you are wasting your money, an SLR camera is the best thing that you can get if you want to get the best pictures.
Problems Encountered: The Spanish manual it not clear in some parts, maybe it could be better if canon gave more details in some options from the camera.
