The Nikon TC-14B 1.4x teleconverter (also known as a tele-extender) will multiply the focal length of the existing lens by 1.4x, and will cut back the amount of light by one f/stop. For example, using a 1.4x teleconverter with a 300mm lens will effectively increase the focal length to approximately 450mm. A lens set to f/2.8 will now be f/4.
Teleconverters are best used with longer telephoto lenses and are not recommended for lenses wider than 50mm, e.g. 28-105mm.
NOTE: Due to the high-quality design of this converter (5 elements/5 groups), the teleconverter will only fit and work with a select range of lenses. However, even with AF lenses, only manual focusing is possible. Only the following lenses are compatible:
AF lenses, in manual focus mode:
- AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF VR
- AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8D ED-IF

* Occasional vignetting, when used at aperture smaller than f/11 with high-shutter speeds occasional uneven exposure might occur.
