A few years ago I did some reasearch on the difference in all the different tapes on the market. I learned alot about lubricants and how mixing different brands of tapes in your cameras can decrease the life of your system by "gunking it up" when the different types of tape lubricants are mixed on your heads.
I learned that Panasonic Master tapes use what is widely considered to be the best type of lubricant for your heads, and ever since then, they're the only tapes I've used. This is the only brand and model of tapes that has ever been in my newest cameras and I have NEVER had a SINGLE drop.
Love these tapes.

If there was a "0" star rating, I'd give it to these mini-DV tapes. I bought a bunch and used them for several months thinking I needed to give them a chance, but finally I had had it (and only had one or two left that I'd be wasting). I have never had so many frame dropouts (those static-y hiccups in the movie) and my tape heads got gummed up constantly! I had to use my head cleaner more in two months than I had in the previous two years! My video camera would actually be flashing the "heads dirty" message within a week of cleaning the heads!
My movies never had glitches in them like they did with this tape. I ended up filming duplicate shots just to make sure I had a good clip to use. I hated this tape and have switched to the Panasonic Professional tape DVM63PQ and love it. I'm honestly puzzled by all the reviewers of the AMQ tape who love it and say they've had no problems.

I use these exclusively in my cameras. They have always performed fully to my expectations. They seem to have less "dropout" than other tapes i have used and they re-record nicely multiple times. I really like there performance.

The only media I use. Out of hundreds of these tapes used, only one has ever reported dropped frames, which we all know is essential when transferring. Do not go with anything else! These are it!

Comments about Panasonic AY-DVM63AMQ Mini DV Videocassette:
I've used many different brands of mini dv tape and this one is hands-down the best. The tapes hold up to wear, have little to no drop out on frames, and are great for archiving completed films.
Comments about Panasonic AY-DVM63AMQ Mini DV Videocassette:
I heard about this tape through one of guys at B and H. I would have never found it if not for his suggestion. I recently bought a Canon HV30 and wanted good Mini DV tapes to create the best footage possible, since the HV30 can shoot HiDef 24p. The image quality from the tapes are great, just want I wanted. This is a mid-range priced tape, that give you top quality footage!

I used this tape to document the Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 20, 2009. It is a sturdy, workhorse grade, that never fails to deliver the best results without drama or breakdown. I am an art school student and use it for all of my projects, as well as family gatherings and parties.

Reliable, premium quality tape, I use for documentaries and "life event" filming. You can't go wrong with Panasonic and you will be hard pressed to find the same quality at this price.

The argument on tape stock is a timeless discussion. One brand that some swear by, others refuse to touch it. These tapes have been consistent for me. I am using them with a XHA1 on a feature length doc. So far so good!

Comments about Panasonic AY-DVM63AMQ Mini DV Videocassette:
I have not had any "dropped" video signals at all. It is very convenient that the labels are already on the cassette. I have never had a tape jam or any mechanical failure of these tapes. A good broadcast grade tape. I have used about 50 of these tapes.
