I bought this scanner a few years ago, and I struggled to get good scans. Recently, I downloaded the latest scanning software from Pacific Image, and what a difference! I get GREAT scans from this little device, good enough that I'm going to use my old Nikon camera system until slide film is no longer available. It's that good! But, you have to get the latest scanning software. For those that are disappointed, don't give up! Just spend a little more time with it!

I used it with the software included and the result was terrible. Then, I installed Vuescan and it was a success. Good bit depth and good resolution. It´s slow but I think is a good scanner for this price.

Comments about Pacific Image Prime-Film 3600u, 3600 dpi, 35mm, Film Scanner:
This scanner won't make great images out of bad slides or negatives. You have to experiment with the slide and film types to get the color right and it is a little slow. All that being said, it produces good images from slides and negative that can be printed 4x6. If you need to scan some old slides or negatives, this scanner will give you good images without breaking the bank.

Comments about Pacific Image Prime-Film 3600u, 3600 dpi, 35mm, Film Scanner:
This is a great scanner for the money. It scans well and relatively quickly. The scanner has trouble with darker slides though. I also found that the software included is lousy. I downloaded vuescan and ended up buying it. The scans I am getting using Vuescan with this scanner are incredible. I have scanned about 100 slides so far and they are all great. Other reviewers complain about the scanner working and just quitting. They don't know how to use a computer or understand what USB ports are all about. If you know how to use a computer and are willing to spend the 80 bucks on Vuescan, you have a great scanner for film.

Comments about Pacific Image Prime-Film 3600u, 3600 dpi, 35mm, Film Scanner:
I have used it with b/w film and the scans look alright if used along with a third-party scanning software, the one that comes with the scanner is horrible. I would rather recommend buying a film compatible flatbad scanner in the same price range.

This scanner is touted as a great buy, but it's color transfer lacks quality. The scanner film/slide holder is difficult to line up slides.Tonal quality also is far from what I expected. If I had it all to do over I'd purchase a different scanner.

Comments about Pacific Image Prime-Film 3600u, 3600 dpi, 35mm, Film Scanner:
Picked this up to archive some family slides, as well as to convert film negatives to digital. Does well with black and white negatives, not so well with color. As for slides... after playing with different settings I find that the color still isn't very good.
