Comments about Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO Macro HSM AF Lens for Nikon AF:
This lens is my work horse. I shoot professionally for social events in a studio where we do over 400 events per year. I had the earlier version of this lens and loved it but felt the the focus distance was not good enough, The second the macro was released it was a MUST HAVE. I shoot two cameras at the same time one with a 18-200 Nikor and the second on my shoulder with the 70-200 2.8 Sigma with the camera set for B&W, Love it, Love it, Love it, GREAT VALUE. In dark areas it is quick and accurate. Buy one you won't regret it.
Expertise: 15+ years: I know enough to be dangerous but always shooting to be better then the last shoot.
Problems Encountered: None really, large lens a little heavy but what do you expect for the range and being 2.8.
Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Same lens non Macro
Items I Recommend: UV Filter, Good camera strap.
Comments about Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO Macro HSM AF Lens for Nikon AF:
I just got this lens and absolutely love it. I have found that it does have a touch of softness at 200mm if you are focusing on subjects at 3 feet away. If you step back, it starts to go away. It's not objectable if you're not pixel creeping. The autofocus is fast and doesn't hunt. The HSM is silent to my ears, which is great. I also like the fact that you can manually focus the while your shutter button is pressed halfway. It allows to make minor adjustments without switching focusing modes. The lens is heavy to hold after a while, but too be expected with this type of lens. Overall, a great purchase and a good addition to anyones system.
Problems Encountered: As mentioned above, there is a touch of softness at 200mm wide open. Otherwise, it's great.
