The Hasselblad 503CWD Digital Camera Kit is custom built around the 503CW camera with its range of high performance, central shutter based lenses, thus turning this camera system into a new digital workhorse. Digital capture is based upon the unique Hasselblad RGB color space, extended with tools for powerful digital workflow control with the Hasselblad Instant Approval Architecture. The digital part of the Hasselblad 503CWD can be fitted onto all Hasselblad V System cameras as well as view cameras using the Hasselblad film magazine interface plate and flash sync connection to trigger the digital capture. The Hasselblad 503CWD thereby brings an ultra high level of integration and flexibility to the professional photographer who needs the best for both mobile and studio shooting.
The 3FR files can be converted directly into Adobe's raw image format DNG (Digital NeGative), bringing this technology standard to the professional photographer for the first time. The DNG file format enables raw, compressed image files to be opened directly in Adobe Photoshop. This allows photographers to operate quickly and efficiently, reducing the "downtime" taken to process image data and enabling final images to reach the client more quickly. Furthermore, Hasselblad image files carry a full set of metadata, including capture conditions, keywords and copyright, facilitating work with image asset management solutions.

Comments about Hasselblad 503CWD SLR Digital Camera Kit with 80mm Lens:
overall not a good decision for me. the ccd lack s depth. I have been using medium format digital since the kodak proback 16mp on a mamiya 645afd. I have four phase one backs on mamiya and hasselblad. the software is very limited. functions that should exist don't like ratings, keywords, etc.. the raws should work in lightroom, but don't. It takes and act of god to delete something on the spot, but you can grade images that you really cant see untethered? I light german stuff in general, but this camera is from the other side of the wall.....not well thought out and behind in the game. But it looks really cool and I like the way I look when I hold it:) there are cheaper ways to look cool! pcox

Excellent tool for professional shots..
Comments about Hasselblad 503CWD SLR Digital Camera Kit with 80mm Lens:
I was waiting for the new 22MP digi SLR to be releasedwhen I heard about this kit. I loved my Hasselblad V system, but had not touched it for years, because my clients lost interest in dealing with film and scanning. I had considered a digital back, but the price always put me off. So when I saw this I was intrigued. For just a few thousand more than the 35 digi, I picked this up instead.First thing, it's a steal. When you consider the value of the camera and the lens, the back ends up costing just a bit less than $6000. Next up, the image quality is excellent. While there aren't a huge number of pixels, they are big pixels, and as anybody who has shot the Canon 5d knows, bigger pixels look better and carry less noise. But there's more too it than that. The sensor quality, processing, and included software - plus the ability to use the excellent Zeiss glass creates an image that is just a step beyond the 35mm digi cams. But on the other hand, you only have 50-400 ISO, and this camera is definitely intended to be used in the studio - so really anything above 200 ISO would be better handled with one of the new 35 digicams. Also, keep in mind that there is about a 1.5 crop factor, so your 80mm lens acts like a 120, 60 becomes a 90, etc. The whole frame is visible on the focusing screen, but there is a box showing the sensor coverage. The interface is intuitive and easy to use. The LCD screen is small but useful and again, really easy to use and navigate. Probably the most effortless digital camera I have used, and I have had most of them over the years. I love the fact that the back uses sony camcorder batteries that are economical and can be purchased anywhere. By the way, it is not clear from the description, but my kit came with a battery and a charger. Having said that, you should invest in a bigger Sony quick charger IMO.So in closing, I just want to say that I am delighted with this kit. I enjoy shooting the V system, and I am glad that Hasselblad came up with this, and because of that I can get at least a few more years of life out of all of my great lenses and accessories. Since there were only 500 made (and mine was in the mid-350s) better get one while you can!
