I got this lens as part of the bundle #2, and I could not be happier with the decision! (The other bundle had a 55-200mm lens.) As a novice, I cannot offer much of the "pro" insight, but I can tell you that I tried this lens out while sitting about 7 feet away from my sister. I zoomed in, and the results revealed that she was in dire need of a facial! The clarity of details on this lens is amazing! I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can go outside and try it out on "prettier" things! ;-)

I bought this lens with a discounted price as part of a promotional deal at B&H Photo. I was not really expecting much and just wanted a lens to take some snaps while hiking with my dog. It turns out the lens is better than I expected. The pictures for the most part look fine on my screen. The only issues I have found are some odd focusing, i.e. the lens seems through cycle through the whole focusing range while trying to lock focus. There is also some purple fringing under certain condiions, but I expected that. I know Sony makes a better lens in that zoom range but it is about 3 times more expensive. Overall, I would say, in my case, it is good value for the money and I am getting some good use of out it.

The 75-300 range is amazing, as beginner i´m satisfied couse this solve my problems and is cheap.
Howhever, this telephoto is cheap, so not expect too much of quality. Low contrast (small aperture) in low light conditions and the focus don´t work well at long focal distances.
More work for Lightroom. :P

I use it mainly to take pictures of animals and the kids in the park. I find that it is good for action shots as well. Its versatile which is nice if you want to carry a limited amount of camera lens with you and have children in tow. My camera bag is small for that reason, therefore; that was why I bought this lens. Did I mention durable, the 4 year olds did not even cause damage to it; a feat in its self.

I have been using the lens for some wildlife photography and it has worked very well. Autofocus is fairly quick for my purposes and it seems to take great pictures even though I have not always used a tripod.

Love owning this telephoto lens to use along my SLR! The focal range is amazing, especially if taking sports action photo's, wildlife and scenery type shots.
Highly recommend it to anyone who likes to get more up close and personal when out on a photo shoot. I loved using it to photograph my nephew playing football! Amazing shots!

Got it for a good price with a Sony a55 body. Not nearly as cheap feeling as I thought it would be. Sharp from 100 mm to 250 mm at f5.6. A bit soft at 75 mm and 300 mm. Very fast focus. Light weight and metal lens mount.

Comments about Sony SAL-75300 AF D 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 Autofocus Lens:
I have a Sony Alpha 55 [which I just can't say enough good things about] and my lens arsenal consists of the Sony CZ 16-80 which is my most used lens. The SAL 50F1.4 for portraits. For long range shots like wildlife and well..the full moon the other day...I have a Sony 70-400 G which is a spectacular lens! That said, I needed a long zoom..that I could travel with and the G is just too big to take on a trip. So I bought the SAL 75-300 for that purpose. I compared the two [the G and this one] before I went out of the country and while there is considerable difference in quality and reach [not to mention price]...the SAL75-300 is really an excellent lens for traveling [small and light weight]. For the price, it is a great value and the photo quality is VERY acceptable!

I have only just made the step up from point and shoot and cell phone cameras to a low end DSLR and this was the first lens I bought (aside from the 50mm kit lens). I am extremely happy with its performance and it has made a world of difference in my photography.
