Cavision MB4169 Overview

The MB4169H-3M Hard Shade Matte Box from Cavision is an ABS plastic rod-mount matte box with a 130mm rear lens opening. It features two 360° rotation filter stages, one fixed filter stage, two 4 x 4" metal filter trays, plus one 4 x 5.65" metal filter tray in the stationary stage. A 130 to 85mm rubber step-down ring is included. A Cavision rod-mount bracket and top and side flags are sold separately. The rod-mount bracket is required.

Note:
The 360° filter stages only rotate 270° when the matte box is used with the Sony FX1 and Z1 cameras.

I use this on my DSLR for independent film and commercial spot production. I think it's great quality for the price but there are a few things to watch out for. for starters let's take the cons, there is a gap between the 2 filter stages that looks to be the result of poor construction. If you press on the stages you can get the gap to disappear but it can open up again during use. The rotating stage also does not line up properly with the front of the mattebox meaning a graduated filter won't properly line up with the horizon. Another thing I didn't like about it is the thumb screw for the side flaps has to be tightened with a pair of pliers because you can't get it tight enough by hand to hold the flaps in place. the pro's: aside from what I meantioned above it's a pretty solidly built mattebox and looks like it will stand up to a lot of abuse.

works great with eos 5D mark II and cavision shoulder support, but it seems a bit fragile compared to other Matte boxes we use like petroff and redrock. The actual product we received is different from that picture above, the top french flag didn't come with the package and the part that attach the matte box to the support rig is missing or not mentioned in the description.

Yes, 3 filter trays are included with Cavision MB4169H-3M. Two 4x4" and one 4x5.65" metal filter trays.

Is the stationary stage compatible with 4x4 trays? Or will it only accept the included 4x5.65?

Will this fit (i.e., clear the overhead handle/built-in mic section) the Panasonic AG-UX180 camera?

We feel that the low overhanging mic on that camera could be a potential issue, but there should be enough room if you insert the rotating filter tray from the bottom instead of the top. Also, you will need a support system to use the Matte Box with the UX180. B&H number CARS15IIMQRB is a baseplate set up that has the Matte Box holder included.https://bhpho.to/2j2qjoF

It weighs around 1.20lb including one 4x4" and one 4x5.65" filter trays but without filters inserted and without flaps attached.
