I have used this with my laptop for a couple of years now - and the connection issues often plauge me even though I use the same AdHoc connection every time. Eventually I get it going, but it is a huge battery hog as others have said. Those are enough of a negative to knock it down one star, but it deserves every bit of the other four. This is a fantastic way to be one-up on everyone else.
I have recently begun using an iPad to preview pictures, and I thought it would be fairly simple to transfer pics to the iPad - but I've found only one program that does it. It's called Shutter Snitch. It works with the iPad just as the ACDSee Preview Mode does. That's super portable! Haven't yet gotten it to work with the AdHoc mode, which means I carry a wireless router with me. Since the WT-3a only does b/g, then I can carry an old small D-Link that works just fine.
If you have the patience to set up the wireless settings, then this is definitely a worthy investment.

My only addition would be that I found the unit so hard on batteries as to be close to unusable for unattended operation (i.e. wildlife/sports). It is however very handy for studio/wedding shoots where you can easily just swap the battery. If you an AC outlet available the EH-6 adapter makes all that irrelevant. A final thought: I used to design the chips used for internet routers, and it took me an hour to get the link working! However it is fun once it's working as you can use the Control Pro SW and so on just like the camera was plugged in with the USB. Could be handy for the astronomy crowd.

Device works great. Easy installation to macbook pro. Communication set for direct download to laptop is a snap (peer to peer). Very happy with unit. I am going to get the antennae.
Problems Encountered: Upon initial set up the utility program said that only G4 and G5 was compatible. This is not the case. My new MacBook Pro worked fine. Although when connected directly with the USB cable the computer said that there was a problem communicating with the camera. The information from the computer was passed to the camera just fine despite the error message.

Clients are astounded when they see immediate results on a viewing monitor vs. reviewing on a camera's small LCD. I use ACDSee Pro with Preview mode set to auto to get full screen previews--right after the transfer occurs. Now both my D200s are outfitted with the transmitter. Overall, a great addition to the shooting experience.
Problems Encountered: Despite some of difficulties in the initial setup (both desktop and laptop_--you need to have some wireless network savvy!!--the unit works beautifully. (Though the rubber cover on the connector port is a bit annoying--until I figure out how to safely remove it.) Regarding impact on battery life, from my experience use of the transmitter does diminish capacity somewhat. But then again, I've never been all that happy with the battery life on the D200!

Received this item last week. Strongly recommend updating the D200 firm ware versions first. Installation of the software to the laptop and camera were pretty simple, but after that had some difficulty in setting the camera for peer to peer operation. Finally solved the issue by going into windows and creating a completely new adhoc network connection and downloading the settings to the camera. After this was complete I was able to establish a wireless connection and control the camera using the nikon capture software. The upload of images from the camera to the computer was faster than I expected. A full JPEG resolution picture took about 3 seconds to upload. Pros: Does work and is fast. Cons: (1)Computer set up to connect the camera difficult and some experience in setting up home networks is essential (2) Battery capacity insufficient, should have been designed to use 2 EN-EL3s (3) For the price, extended range antenna should be included.
