This thing is an exact duplicate of the Canon grip, and works flawlessly so far. The only issue I have had in the couple days I've owned it is that at first the power would not stay on. After much fiddling I discovered the problem.

Problems Encountered: On the grip, housed inside the recess where the swivel-lock for the battery clip connects is a very tiny button. When the battery lock is swiveled and locked in, this is depressed and tells the camera that the batteries are ready. The problem was that the lock was not fully depressing this tiny button.I solved this problem by taking a little scrap of paper and laying it inside the recess, so it would be an extra layer and apply greater pressure on the little button. It's ghetto, but it worked. I will search for a longer-term solution later.

I bought this primarily for doing portrait shots using the shutter release button on the grip. After a week of use this grip would power off and stop working whenever it was turned sideways for a portrait shot. This was incredibly frustrating for about a month until I took some small pliers and pulled out the internal spring that holds the battery pack in place. Everything seems to be working fine since then and I've added some black electrical tape around the grip to keep it working. Definitely a poorly designed cheap replacement model so I guess I got what I deserve. I'm thinking about getting the 40D or XSi now and I definitely will buy the regular Canon grip this time.

Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
I bought one for each of my cameras, the Rebel XT and XTi. I love the extra gripping space when attached to the cameras. The vertical buttons are very handy and help when shooting vertical shots. I just use one battery pack in the grip to cut down on the weight a little, and that works out great.

Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
Used this unit sparingly over about 9 months and screws came out and unit basically just fell apart. Sent it back and got a new one. New one hasn't fallen apart yet, but does lose contact with camera leaving me wonder why my camera won't change settings when I'm in a pinch. When the unit is working however, it's great.

Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
I have been using this grip for two years. I didn't like how small a body my XTi was, so I got the grip to let me hold the camera better. I like the fact that the battery door stores hidden in the grip, so you have it if you want, the grip holds two batteries, and can use AA batteries, if you are in a pinch!!

The dials on this grip were a bit sluggish at first, but after regular use, they have loosened up. Hopefully they will not become too loose as time goes buy.

Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
I liked the grip because of the shutter release and camera controls that allow you to shoot with hands in the normal shooting position when taking vertical shots. It gives my Rebel XTi a little more weight to it and allows me to hold the camera steadier. The price is also a great incentive.

Bought this at the same time as my Rebel XTI. It worked great for about six months, and then simply died. Tried a second unit from Targus and had the same result - four months of life. I am going bite the bullet and buy the Canon brand.

Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
I bought this at the same time I bought my XTI. I was preparing for a trip to Peru and knew I'd be spending some time in some pretty remote places. The last thing I needed was to be on this incredible trip with no batteries. The grip worked great on the trip and saved the day more than once. It was nice being able to shoot comfortably landscape or portrait. At the time I was quite happy. However, shortly after I got back to the States, I would use the camera mounted on a tripod. Unfortunately, the weight of the camera body (even with the cheap kit lens) was too much and the screw posts holding the mounting plate cracked, rendering the thing useless. In the end, pay the extra[$] and get the Canon grip. It'll save you the hassle and money.
Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
Maybe not the best value for the money, because I don't use all the features. But it handles great and IS lenses are never running out of juice even after a very long day.It adds to the weight, but reduces the wrist tension. I don't use it with the light primes, but with something like 70-200 f/2.8 IS this grip is invaluable.
Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
I've had the original BG-E3 with my XT and got rid of itwhen I sold the camera. I bought an XTi and figured I couldsave money with the Targus grip. My camera would turnoff/on intermittently. Looking closely at the top of thegrip, I noticed a screw missing and others loose. I figureI could just tighten them down but they wouldn't. I took itapart to find all the plastic that hold the screws in werecracked. A different type of plastic with metalreinforcement would have been a better design. This is acheap knock-off of the BG-E3. Spend more to get the original!
Expertise: Professional Videographer
Problems Encountered: Bad engineering in terms of plastic that hold the screws inplace.needs metal reinforcement or higher grade plastic.

Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
I purchased this grip for my Rebel Xti and it stopped functioning almost immediately. The screws loosened which constantly caused the power to shut down. It does not fit properly to the camera. I returned the product directly to Targus and they replaced it with another one. But again, only 2 weeks later, I encountered the same problem.

Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
I recently downgraded camera bodies from an EOS 1Ds to an XTi. I had wanted something lighter and smaller, but the XTi turned out to be too small for my hands. I had battery grips on my D30s and D60s, so I ordered one from the great company B&H. (I have NO relationship with B&H other than as a customer, and I know NO ONE there.) I selected the Targus because I wanted to try the 6 AA cells instead of the more-expensive NB-2LHs. The unit arrived with good instructions, works exactly as advertised, and the camera operates very well on the half-dozen AAs. The camera's weight increased 12.8 ounces with the BG and 6 AAs.Highly recommended.

Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
At first it seemed like a great buy but on using this grip for Semi-pro work i found it to shut down my camera xti and leave me hanging. when i needed to use the flash unit, it would work for a period of time, then all flash pictures turned dark and eventually not allow me to use flash at all. after one month of use, i am at the mercy of the manuf and b and h...........time will only tell if i receive a new grip.
Problems Encountered: Grip will cause the flash unit to not fire or fire with the results being dark pics

Comments about Targus TG-BG350 Vertical Battery Grip:
I bought this item prior to a 3week trip to Asia. Honestly I was impressed with the quality when I removed it from the box, it rivaled the Canon, I thought. It also included a AAA battery magazine. I think I paid additional for the AAA magazine for my 1st Canon Digital Rebel. My first impression was POSITIVE. However, while I was on my trip, my camera shut down. Batteries were fully charged and upon investigation, I found that the TWIST-LOCK on the battery magazine would DISENGAGE slightly during VERTICAL use. However, it was just enough to cut all power to the camera. The Grip is designed for additional battery storage, but more importantly, it allows you to use the controls when holding camera in a vertical position. FORTUNATELY, I was able to detect the problem and was able to use tape to cover the twist lock and camera functioned fine. (the battery cover on cam is removed to accommodate the grip and mine was stateside, so fortunately the tape came in handy). I called manufacturer and was given a return however they have had the unit for more than 2 weeks (delivery confirmed) and I have had no communication from them regarding the status of my warranty claim. Seems like a NY to Chicago return should be in hand already. While the unit is cheaper than the Canon, I gave 2 stars for value being without a 2month old unit has NO VALUE to me. 2 stars DESIGN i believe the problem to be a design/manufacturing problem. 1 star for MEETS EXPECTATIONS frankly paying good money for a product should allow you problem free use during the first year. It does me no good to have a 3 month old unit out for repair.
Problems Encountered: Defective product and what i feel is slow response to warranty claim. SEE ABOVE.
