The elegant Sony Cybershot DSC-N2 Digital Camera is a ten-megapixel powerhouse with an extending Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens. Every time you snap a picture, the DSC-N2 will store a full-resolution image on the optional media card or in the camera's 25 MB of internal memory. Additionally, it automatically resizes that same image in VGA resolution and stores it in a portion of the camera's internal memory dedicated to pocket album. With its built-in photo album function the camera can be a photo diary in your pocket, loaded with up to 500 of your favorite images. No matter how many pictures are offloaded from the media card, you can choose to protect the images you want to keep and, over time, you have a collection of your favorite shots in the camera.

- Over 10 million pixels provide incredible high-resolution detail and definition for making big prints and cropping in on your subject. Plus, the advanced Sony 1/1.7" Super HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise.

- Because flash can sometimes change the mood, the DSC-N2 features higher sensitivity (ISO 1600) for excellent low-light shots at higher shutter speed and for capturing images in museums or religious sites where flash may not be permitted.

- Some compact digital cameras "wash out" color in brightly lit areas, but the Sony DSC-N2 controls the light level received by its CCD imager to reduce washout and improve color reproduction.

I love this camera..and I'm a critical camera buff andschool trained shutterbug, having spent a career inaudiovisual sciences and still photography. I have higherend cameras, but for sheer portability, convenience -without sacrificing much in quality - and only a little infeatures over a larger camera, it is superb, takes great,clear, sharp pictures. It is features rich beyondexpectations, though. Simple operation, produces greatimages and resolution. Kudos to Sony for a winner. Ibought one for office, one for wife, one fordaughter-in-law, and I'm seeking another. They LOVE it. How's that for endorsement?

Well, I've taken about 200 pictures now and have had a lot of fun with it. I said I'd give more comments, so here goes. It has a terrific slide show that entertains you with all kinds of variations for your pictures and music along with it to boot. Fun Fun Fun.... The sunsets are true to life colors with good dept of field and acceptable clarity. I went to a party at a bar last night and had it set on multi auto focus and it focused on all the subjects and gave an average of five people with a good deal of clarity. I highly recommend a tripod at sunrise/sunset because it's been averaging 1/30 to 1/50 of a second shutter speed on automatic landscape and the photos are clear, but would be better with a tripod at those speeds. I have a pretty steady hand, and the camera warned me that I'd need to have a tripod..... The battery gets used up sort of fast, but I like all my shots taken on 10 mp, fine setting, so All in All,,,,, good job SONY. Oh, you folks complaining about red eye...get a life...It only gets red eye once in a blue moon and my computer software deals with it fairly well if need be. Get this camera, you'll love it.Expertise: Professional..... This camera is for fun and more fun. EnjoyProblems Encountered: The instruction manual is not real well written. Not real easy to understand unless you have a little extra photography savy. But I can get it little by little. Just have to have patience and some time too. So set it on Auto and relax. I have done professional photography...Just got my new N2 and so far I am very happy with it. Now I can just slip it into my pocket and go....Got it when ever I need amazingly sharp photographs. Shot pictures with it right out of the box on automatic and didn't get any red eye yet. Again, the portrait is sharp as can be. SONY...Kudos to you. Thanks for making a neat fun to have camera. Will send more comments later. Oh, got the extended Warranty just in case it ever fails in the next 5 years. Excellent software is included with camera...now I have a clear manual right on my computer.
Problems Encountered: To be honest, the menu on the screen is a little busy, but I have some time right now to figure it out....I think it will be fun. Till then, will mostly use automatic mode and I'm confident I can trust camera to produce beautiful shots.

Man! This is a fantastic little 10mp camera. Its fast for this type of camera and it takes VERY VERY sharp pictures. The only things missing is antishake technology and being water resistant. Sony has the technology but I don't think they incorporated in this unit, though I've been wrong before. I own the Sony Alpha SLR camera and think this camera has the same qualities in the processed image. Lots of goodies built in and it makes a good Xmas stocking stuffer. Enjoy.
