The use of Apochromatic design and 2 SLD (Extraordinary Low DispersionSpecial Low Dispersion) glass elements give full correction of chromatic aberration and provide a high level of optical performance.
The improved DG lens design corrects for various aberrations. This lens is specially coated to get the best color balance whilst cutting down on ghosting caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. The lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras.

Comments about Sigma 300-800mm f/5.6 EX DG APO HSM Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras:
I use this lens to grab full frame shots of wildlife as well as to shoot sports. It allows me to clearly see the location of a bird's ear as well as to shoot through nearby chainlink fence with little concern of quality loss.
It is a great surf photography lens. I am happy to trade the zoom range for any offset Canon's big glass has to offer. Very happy.
It weighs a lot. I regularly pack mine in half a mile and between it and a suitable tripod and head the setup weighs in near 15 Kilos. You can cancel your membership to the health club and spend the savings on a few visits to the Chiropractor.
