Comments about Alpha DSLR-A100 Digital Camera with Sony 18-200mm Lens:
This camera is fun, easy and intuitive. My young daughter is enjoying it as much as I am. The battery is at 3/4 after a 1-week vacation and 650 pictures later. Experimented with both speed and aperture settings with instantaneous result. Memory card purchases is fast to download the photos. Camera seems rugged. My daughter feels like a pro. Pictures seem great. Excellent purchase for the price ([$] including the lens).

Comments about Alpha DSLR-A100 Digital Camera with Sony 18-200mm Lens:
i wouldn't call myself a photographer but i do love to take pictures - usually vacation gives me the opportunity to snap away. this camera was my first introduction to DSLR - and i have enjoyed it very much.i have bought the 18mm - 200mm lens with this camera and it is very versatile - but suffers in low light conditions.let your eyes be your guide[@]the things that are negative is that the photos might be on the "soft" side - and the motor and mirror is a bit on the noisy side.this is a review from a novice... so many other like Nikon and Canon - i think Sony is very much underrated.

Comments about Alpha DSLR-A100 Digital Camera with Sony 18-200mm Lens:
I am an amateur photogragher and this is my first DSLR.Picture quality is great,as they are crisp and clear.I have had many compliments on the pictures I have taken. My favourite lenses are the 50mm-f/1.7 and a sigma 105mm-f/2.8 macro. The macro compliments the camera well.Changing lens takes getting used to depending on what you are shooting as I had a superzoom prior. The only limit I can see is the person using the camera. It is a little tricky when doing wildlife as it's shutter noise is a bit loud.I like this camera alot and I am glad I went to a DSLR.

I use this camera to take photojournalistic type photographs. I like how study this camera feels compared to the alpha 250 modle; however, it is quite a bit louder.

Comments about Alpha DSLR-A100 Digital Camera with Sony 18-200mm Lens:
I use the camera for family and hobby. Previously owned the Minolta 8000i and it spoiled me on good SLR's. I waited until digital tech reached the point that I felt I wasn't going backwards.
I love this camera; it takes great pictures all the way around. At first I didn't understand why some pics were underexposed (esp. with flash), but then read that was on purpose so that details would not be lost. Messing with the exposure buttons fixes things on the spot.
My old lenses (100-300; 35-105) work great, but did have to get the 18-70 to take wide angle shots. The flash (5200i) did not work on AUTO without washing out the whole picture; had to set the flash manually each time, so ended up buying the new Sony flash. I don't think the noise that so many complain about is that bad or out of line. I've been very pleased with the higher ISO settings.
DRAWBACK: the auto focus still does not seem as quick and accurate as my old 8000i--esp. with following moving targets (kids running, etc.). Though I have a high speed memory card, I still do not seem to be able to get 3 fps under all conditions, which means some shots have been missed.
Another thing that is sorely missed is the infrared auto-focus sensor under low-light conditions. This was a GREAT feature on the 8000i.
I have owned the A100 for over a year now, and I guess I have to give it only 4 stars because I'm still comparing it to my old Minolta. However, I will NEVER go back. The advantages and the beauty of the photos that I have taken with this camera are equal to anything done on my old one.

Comments about Alpha DSLR-A100 Digital Camera with Sony 18-200mm Lens:
I am not a professional photographer. At the very least I am an "amateur - amateur". I owned a Nikon 6006 film camera for 15 (20?) years and I decided to go Digital - yet I am still a film lover. The availability of the 18-200mm lens was a major factor in my purchasing the camera. Also, I looked around for a Nikon camera and found the Sony had some better reviews. So I bit the bullet, and decided to buy the Sony. Only drawback is the Sony will not take my old Nikon lenses; but with the 18-200mm lens, that should be sufficent for my needs. So far, I am satisfied I did purchase the Sony. I still need to get in more picture taking - but right now - I am happy.

Comments about Alpha DSLR-A100 Digital Camera with Sony 18-200mm Lens:
I used for a trip in Rocky Mountains. I took great pictures.
Pros: It is easy to use. Light to carry it around. Pictures are crisp.
Cons: Noise. Auto mode does not work well inside or darkness. But if you manually set it to a higher ISO it corrects the problem.
Overall worth the money.
