Does just what I wanted. Provides that little extra spread that is so popular in just about all visual media today. Well constructed, good optical quality. Very little light loss with just the right amount of curvature at the edges. Because of the all metal housing it isn't real light. My XHA1 is a tad front heavy with it mounted, but I got used to it quickly. You can zoom through this lens and retain clarity and depth. Can't beat this lens for the price!

Bought this wide angle lens to use on a 72mm lens. Unfortunately, it did not fit The distance from the back of the lens to the threads was too deep for any of the 72mm lenses that I have. There is about 1/4" of lens mount before the threads. If the threads were on the outer edge, it would have fit no problem. Unfortunately, I've had to return the unit.
If it did work, it looks like it would have done a nice job. Only con is the unit is heavy, about 2 lbs.

I previously bought a Canon wide angle adapter for my GL2 thinking I would use it now and then, that was 5 years ago and the adapter has never been removed from the GL2. I think the same is going to happen with my XH-A1s. I used the adapter for the first time last weekend at a wedding venue, how did I cope without it before? Yes it's heavy on the front end, but with being able to zoom through and have that 24mm (35mm equivalent) wide shot available, I think it's remaining on the camera.

I needed this lens to get a wider angle inside a car - shooting the driver from passenger seat. Attached to a XHA1 this lens worked out great. I was surprised I couldn't use any screw on filters with it but since I only use it in tight spaces and inside a car it was no big deal.

Just got this converter a few weeks ago. I have been using it on a Canon XHA1S. Used for diverse projects, anywhere from commercials for TV to long form projects. It has proven to be indispensable. Great for tight quarters. The video looks clean. I don't even bother taking it off anymore. The only thing you have to get used to is the slight weight increase on an already front-heavy camera. The use of a brace would go a long way to relieve the stress on the arms. Since I use a tripod a lot it has not bothered me so much.

I love this lens! The perfect lens for my Canon XH-A1 HDV camera. The quality is excellent, and the images are great. I keep it on the camera almost all the time. It does add some weight to the front end of the camera, but if you are using it with a good tripod like a Manfrotto, you should be able to slide the camera boot into position to properly balance the camera on the tripod head.

I got this adapter to shoot a music video that required some shots in very tight spaces. It gives me the little extra that I need and made all the difference. I have never had a problem with a Canon lens or adapter. It is a little on the heavy side but worth making the proper adjustments to your gear to compensate.

Just the correct wide angle lens I needed. Does a great job, good image, good quality lens.
It is a heavy lens to put at the end of your camera. Makes the camera a little front heavy. There are no threads on the front of the lens to attach any filters.

Very high quality lens, well worth the price. The only downside is that it is heavy and you can't attach any filters to it.

This lens has done more then I thought it would do. The optics are amazing and I think Canon has it down on the optics, I will never buy a China lens ever again as Canon is worth the little extra money for what you get. I like the results this lens gives me. Thank you Canon.

Comments about Canon WD-H72 72mm 0.8x Wide Angle Converter Lens:
Ok, so the biggest disadvantage is the weight. Unless you add some weight to the rear, like add a DTE or two, or three, this lens will make your camera very front-heavy.
I use Manfrotto tri-pods and monopods, and even with the plate slid all the way to the rear, the camera is still unbalanced and nose heavy.
What do I do? I deal with it. The advantage of using this lens in close quarters far outweighs the cons.
One thing I feel the made a mistake on is that you cannot add filters to the front.
Some people will be disappointed that the IAF is blocked by this monstrous lens that makes your XHA1 look nearly twice as grand (I know we are not supposed to be into it to impress others with our equipment, but this lens will make your camcorder look more impressive -sorry).
I can't really think of anything else to say. If you aren't regularly using your XHA1 or having the wider shot is not something you are really missing, then you can probably forgo this investment. However, if you are using your camera a lot, then it seems to me this lens should be added to your arsenal. I leave it on all the time, just about and I am really happy we have it.

I've just used this a little here and there, but I love the result. Like many wide angle lenses, there is bending of the image, but if the shot is planned out, it doesn't hinder anything.

Comments about Canon WD-H72 72mm 0.8x Wide Angle Converter Lens:
We shoot in tight spots, so this one is a no-brainer. We needed a wide-angle and with no compromises, so we went with Canon for our Canon XHA1. The first recording proved this was crisp and clear in results. The WD-H72 is perfect for our in-house green screen shooting (in a small room using 4:3) and for Real Estate video tour shoots, though I'm sure it will stay on the camera more than off for many other situations.I used it indoors with no additional lighting (for a home tour in daylight hours) the first day this arrived and the footage was great.Comes with a lens hood and a cap that stays on (two things my co-producer's wide-angle did not have). The added weight can be tiresome if hand-held, though it seems to help me be more careful with balancing and shake. Settings on my XHA1 did not vary in response from what I can tell, using the WD-H72. This is a must have. [...]

Purchased for commercial shoot of new home interiors. Easy to change, sharp focus, great for tight places. A tad heavy, and wish it was a little wider, but excellent piece for the price!
