The Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack ("S" for Slim and "C" for Compact) provides typical all-day flash shooting capacity like the standard Turbo, yet weighs less than 1 lb and fits easily in a shirt pocket.
State-of-the-art NiMH batteries power the Turbo SC for lightning-fast recycling times and high capacity. Despite its mini proportions, it provides up to 225 full-power flashes with Quantum's Qflash units, or 400 shoe mount flashes, on a single 1.5-hour charge. And, like all Quantum batteries, the Turbo SC features a computerized "fuel gauge" that clearly displays the amount of power remaining and monitors charging progress.

I have been using this with my Canon Speedlite 580 EX II for a little over a year now. This product works well if you read the literature and fully understand the indicators on the battery pack, how to connect and power up the unit, and most importantly how to set up the custom functions on your flash. For the Canon Speedlite 580 EX II you have to set the C.FN 12 to 1 for recycling with an external power source. Most people know this, but there was also a notice by Quantum that states you should set C.Fn 01 to 1 to disable the flash going to sleep mode. C.Fn 01 is a great feature if running on straight AA batteries, but if the flash goes to sleep the Quantum Turbo SC loses it's connection to the flash. You can determine if the Quantum Turbo SC has detected the connection to the flash by checking the yellow LED with the Flash symbol on the battery pack. If the LED is steady on you have a good connection to the flash. If the yellow LED is flashing it means that the high voltage has shutdown because the connection to the flash has not been detected. I am embarrassed to admit how long it took me to figure out why I wasn't getting the flash to fire as often as I was expecting it to when connected to the Turbo SC. Hopefully this will help somebody else out down the road.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack:
I am a full time wedding pro, I put this off for so long cause of the price thinking I would just keep using my old nikon double a battery pack and that it was good enough. I was dead wrong - I never miss any thing from outshooting and better yet I shoot 10 hour weddings and strobe and flash the entire time and still have yet to drain this beast.
Well let me demystify one benefit to this turbo pack - it has no fall off as it gets low on juice- it is as strong at 1 green light left as it is on 4 lights. Unlike double A's as they get drained they take longer and longer to recharge the flash.
Go get this thing , you will be glad you did.

Very lightweight and holds a charge for a long time. One big drawback is it's price. Very expensive.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack:
I have the Turbo and use it during sporting events. I purchased the Turbo SC and was surprised by its compact size and its reduced weight. I will purchase another if I get a chance. I can still shoot the Turbo SC and Nikon SB-800 for over 400 shots and in 1 1/2 hours its charged and ready to go. No longer do I need to wait over night for the Turbo to charge.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack:
I use my Turbo SC Battery Pack by Quantum to power my canon 580EXII...I use this mainly at events and weddings..everthing worked perfect at the beginning with great results..its just that at times strange things are happening with the Turbo battery pack that I do not understand and No reading material or info is sent in the box when I bought the product..A basic manual would have gone a long way to help in this regard..so I would not have to be troubleshooting on the internet for answers...most electronic equipment the answers are right there in the manual and the Turbo battery back just seem not to have a manual...that is the only reason I gave a 4 star rating.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack:
I first rented this battery pack to photograph a priestly ordination, which was going to be a huge job. I didn't want to keep changing batteries over the two days, so I thought this could help.
Over two days I shot 3,000 photos, all of which my 580EX II fired, and changed batteries a grand total of: ONCE. And the batteries in my flash were generic store brand batteries. I returned the battery pack and shot my next job without it, which was a smaller job. I shot 500 photos and changed batteries three times!
I now own this battery pack, and couldn't be happier.
The only complaint I have is admittedly nitpicking: The connection for the charging port and CZ cable is kind of annoying. I would like a more straightforward connection.
Regardless, this is a must have for photographers that rely on their flash.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack:
This is so helpful for any kind of photography,
When yr regular AA runs out this guys give you at least 15 times many more pops with yr strobe
Just make sure u have new batteries, and dont have too high expectations, it is after all just a on camera flash, if you click no stop like 20 full strobes it obviously need a second to recover
But with the turbo pack you even risk to burn out yr camera strobe,
Also be very care full when attaching your cord to the strobe
I burnt out my canon after trying to jam it it the wrong way when it was on,
Cost me $ 100 at the canon repair center

Comments about Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack:
Although small, the Turby SC packs a BIG punch. Plenty of power yet small enough to slip over your belt and not even know its there.
I recently used the turbo SC batter to power my Quantum T5d-R during a wedding reception. I was a little apprehensive that the battery would not stay with me the entire five+ hours but it most certainly did. I shot well over 600 photographs using QTTL and still had some charge left over when I put it back in the bag.
For the power, size, and price, I feel this is the best bettery Quantum has to offer.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack:
One of the biggest troubles facing Nikon SB-900 users is that there's no battery indicator on their Flash LCD to check .. so suddenly you find your batteries out of charge & and need to be changed, but at the same time you didn't need to stop shooting because (as a Wedding Photographer) you can't stop emotions of a brise & groom from flow till you change batteries.
I find that "Quantum - Turbo SC Battery Pack" helps me so much to decrease depending on AA batteries as much possible as i can.
also there's a lot of points i win by using "Turbo SC Battery Pack" such as fast recycle time - 4 led indicator - fast Recharge - more & more ...
If you are a Wedding photographer who depends on flash on most of your shots indoor ... so go & buy it .. & you will pray for me

I use this for wedding photography paired with the QFlash. Great, lightweight, quick to charge and quick to discharge! Read the specs, 225 flashes is only 1 CF card. It will do more, but it won't last a whole wedding.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack:
It's light, charges relatively quickly, re-cycles the flash fast. It makes light painting a simple process, and takes excellent portraits. I'm overall happy with it, but 1) doesn't allow continuous flash (strobe) as I'd hoped, since the flash still has to re-charge, and 2) won't support the camera power adapters, those will only work with the dual-plug large unit. For this price you'd think it could do both duties.

I use it for metz 45CL4 and canon 580EX, it's working good, quick cycling. But losen the plugin from cable to the battery sometimes. If it is fixed, it will be the best battery for photographers.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Turbo SC Battery Pack:
I have been shooting weddings and portraits with a use of this battery pack for 3 years and it's one of those devices that should find its place in every professional wedding photographer's bag. It lets me shoot the whole event on the single charge - I usually get up to 700 shots and around 300-400 at the flesh full power setting. The battery pack makes my Nikon SB800 ready in 1-2 sec which is needed to capture the right moment. The really small and insignificant drawback is that my flash unit still needs 4 AA batteries to support its LCD and back-lit that increases the whole set-up weight...
