The WhiBal Generation 6 (G6) RAW Reference Card is a simple-to-use standard for setting white balance in all RAW converters, as well as image editors such as Adobe Photoshop. The light & easy to handle single-card format eliminates a need to fan out reference cards, thereby speeding reference capture.
The WhiBal G6 Reference Card is light Gray, and certified to a recommended Luminance level of L* = ~75, which is optimum for use in RAW converters. The hi-gloss sticker on the corner of the card provides a TrueBlack black patch that has been optimized for a guaranteed Luminance spec of L* < 4. (TrueBlack provides a real black-point reference, as opposed to a diffuse black associated with most other multi-shade reference cards), and the sticker also provides a Whitepoint, integral focus/sharpness target, and handy reference scale in inches and centimeters essential for macro, product and scientific photography. The WhiBal hi-gloss sticker, also provides a visual indication within the viewfinder of the angle of maximum glare. By moving the camera or card from the detected maximum glare point, accuracy of the White Balance reference is properly maintained.

You'll be amazed at how easy to use the WhiBal card is and how even a subtle adjustment to white balance can dramatically improve your images.
I invested a half-hour or so, before using the card, watching Michael Tapes present his product in several video tutorials on WhiBal's site. For me, understanding the theory and practice of this tool was essential. It's remarkably simple, and it's pretty much foolproof. I strongly recommend investing this time right up front.
Everything I've captured since buying the card has benefitted from its use. I strongly recommend it as a cost effective solution to a hidden problem that will degrade an otherwise "perfect" image.

While this product does more or less what it is advertised to do, statistically speaking it may not be the most accurate product out there. Both the WhiBal and the traditional Macbeth Color Checker were positioned adjacent to one another in the full afternoon sun at a compound angle to eliminate glare. These were photographed using a Canon EOS1Ds at ISO 100 to minimize noise. The resultant file was opened in Adobe Camera Raw 4.4.1 and 30 random samples each were taken in the center area of both the WhiBal chip and neutral D .23 step of the Color Checker (which is close to the WhiBal density value) using the White Balance Tool . The resulting “Temperature” and “Tint” data were analyzed in an industry recognized statistical package with the following result:
Macbeth Temp – Mean 4808.3, StDev 23.1; WhiBal Temp – Mean 4793.3, StDev 48.7; Macbeth Tint – Mean -19.333, StDev 1.241; WhiBal Tint – Mean -19.000, StDev 2.421.
As can be seen, the variability of both the Temperature and Tint WhiBal data is approximately twice that return by the Color Checker. The reason for this is not immediately clear, but is likely due to the lower specularity of the Color Checker targets. Thus for critical work, the Color Checker may be preferable. However, the WhiBal is more durable and smaller in size, but the Mini Color Checker, not tested, comes close size wise. In any case, care is needed in the use of either product both at the shooting and sampling stages.

Amazing reference for white balance. It is so small, it will easily fit anywhere one might think of storing it, but big enough to keep around (credit card size) (If one is prone to loosing credit cards then i wouldn't suggest it). The white balance i have been getting with this has been great, makes shooting in difficult lighting situations very easy and relaxed.

I shoot a lot inside during the winters and all my photos had horrible yellow coloring due to the indoor lights. This card makes that simple to correct- I just shoot a pic of it in the same light and then use it to adjust my white balance in post processing. It makes a huge difference and helps train your eye to see how your camera sees. Highly recomended.

This is the best white balance card I've used. I have this pocket sized card and the studio sized card. I use this one for my own personal use when out and about with my family. Fits in my back pocket or purse easily. So easy to use and results are consistent although a little bit on the warm side. I usually bring down the yellow slider in lightroom a tiny bit to my liking.

I use it for making sure the pictures have accurate colors after shooting RAW.
Before getting this, I used to think the pictures came out nice. After using it, I could see how the true colors showed in the pictures.
Very easy to use.

I do not like the folder it is carried in, but that's not a big deal. Just keep it in your pocket.

I recently purchased my first camera that shoots RAW and decided to get the WhiBal card as a tool to use. Among the things I shoot are food photos, and I bring my own battery powered LED lights (which have a slight blue tint) because restaurants are usually so poorly lit. Using WhiBal allowed me to color correct in moments. It is such a good product that I also purchased the WhiBal that fits on your keychain.

I have found the mobility of this product is great as well as its main purpose. I can just snap a quick shot with this card in the frame and edit White Balance accurately for a series of shots under the same lighting conditions.

The quality is good. As one reviewer has mentioned that the card was used underwater... it sees pretty waterproof. I also like the spectromtrically neutral surface and the label with black and white.
The only thing u need to know is your minimum focusing distance. With my 5D and he 85L, minimum focusing distance is 3 feet. The area of the image required for custom white balance is too small at that distance. In this case I exchanged for the next size up.
Despite the cost, the card is waterproof, color neutral, accurate. My jpegs came out great. I would recommend this product for my friends.

Fantastic WB with no funky discolorations you can sometimes get with a cardboard card. Fits right into your pocket so you never misplace it. Hard plastic so you wont bend it, get rain spots on it or have it fade in the sun. Buy it!

This is an amazing tool to use! It made editing the last weding i shot so easy! With all the changing lighting conditions white balance is perfect in all the locations. The nice part is that if you don't have time to set your white balance, just take a quick photo of the card and change your wb in ACR. Nice small and pocket sized too!

This card didn't work for me because I wanted to do my white balance in-camera, not in post processing.

This is a huge time-saver.
This little device enables me to color-correct my RAW images by the batch-load. It is especially great for indoor lighting, so much so that I can also make curve presets based upon often-used locations and conditions, lens-specific chromatic aberrations, etc.
I always shoot a reference and it always gives me great color balance for my Olympus E-510.
