The Gitzo GT3540XLS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs is a tripod that uses advanced "Carbon 6X" carbon fiber material for its leg construction. This improved tubing is stronger, lighter and as resistant as its 12 layer predecessor. Carbon "6X" is manufactured using a complex, 3-D process weaving 6 layers of carbon fiber into smooth, solid constructed tubes.
Also known as the Tele Studex, the GT3540XLS is designed for "over head level" shooting, offering extra flexibility in the studio or at weddings, concerts and sport events. It can reach a height of 6.6' (198 cm).
Systematic tripods have a unique ultra wide top platform that guarantees an incredibly stable base for any professional high performance equipment. This platform can be removed and replaced with other accessories, making this a fully customizable system.

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540XLS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
I use this with Canon 70-200; 100-400 lenses with or without extension tubes. When connected to either the 5D or 1DMIII bodies this tripod provides incredible stability on a variety of terrains. Its very easy to unlock and lock - no more than 1/2 turn will get you going in changing size.
For taller people like myself (6'2") that cant tolerate a lot of neck bending on smaller tripods, this on lets me stand completely vertical without my neck bothering me for landscape and outdoor photography.
The fact that its exceptionally light lets me carry this without any hassle at all either with or without gear attached to a Acratech quick release ballhead.

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540XLS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
This is the best tripod I've owned. I finally got rid of the center column tripods, which are nothing more than a monopod with legs. The pictures I get with my long lens (400mm) are very sharp. It is easily set up and adjustable for the varying terrain. I really meets all my needs. I put a REALLY RIGHT STUFF full sized ball head on it. Great setup.

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540XLS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
I use this tripod all the time I shoot. It is expensive but well worth it. Its easy to use, lightweight and very sturdy. I am 6'5" so having a tall tripod is nice. No more bending over. Get it!

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540XLS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
This tripod was recommended by Tony Sweet at a recent workshop due to its versatility. A Gitzo quality carbon fiber tripod, legs extend to ? 10 feet for those unusual needs. At the same time, leg joints allows tripod mount to be brought almost to ground level.

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540XLS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
Nice not to have to stoop over to look through the camera or have to use a center column to get close as I've had to with my old tripod. It can also get close to ground level.
I'm 6'4" and even without one section extended, with the ballhead I added the camera is at my eye-level with this tripod. It leaves me extra height for bird photography if I have a way to get myself higher as well.
Working in a mucky area, it seemed like the twist joints easily get debris in it which I didn't have to worry about with my old levered locks for the joints.
Overall, nice tripod.

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540XLS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
I purchased this tripod for the sole purpose of mounting my Wimberley II head. I am very impressed with this tripod. Fast setup and very stable. I really like the adjustment range for height, it's very flexible. It's not cheap, but I have found never to skimp on a tripod and this one is great and worth the money.
