The Gitzo GT3540LS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs uses advanced "Carbon 6X" carbon fiber material for its leg construction. This improved tubing is stronger, lighter and as resistant as its 12 layer predecessor. Carbon "6X" is manufactured using a complex, 3-D process weaving 6 layers of carbon fiber into smooth, solid constructed tubes.
Also known as the Tele Studex, the GT3540LS is designed as an ultra-sturdy tripod. Its rated load capacity is 39.7 lbs, and it offers an unique ultra wide top platform that guarantees an incredibly stable base for any professional high performance equipment. This platform can be removed and replaced with other accessories, making this a fully customizable system.

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540LS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
This tripod is the best of both worlds - light and sturdy. The GT-3540LS tripod replaces one of the first carbon fiber tripods that Gitzo made which has been a real work horse and has traveled the world. The Gitzo GT-3540LS is a little lighter in weight but the main advantage is the new leg locking system. It has always been common for me to think that I had the legs tightened and they gradually began slipping. No more, the problem is solved. I am using this tripod with a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ball head. The heaviest combination that I have used is a Nikon D3 and the Nikkor 200-400 VR lens. This combination functions flawlessly.

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540LS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
I finally got tired of the size and weight of my Gitzo 1340 aluminum legs. It served me well but it was time to upgrade. The 3540 has similar extended height w/o the center column, but with a much shorter folded length and of course almost half the weight!
It was easy to adjust the new ALR mechanism, a couple of folds and unfolds and I was able to open and close it within 20 seconds.
Part of me regretted not originally buying a carbon fiber a few years ago, but I'm glad I waited to spend on 6x and the new gitzo innovations.

After schlepping through the Mountains of Montana with an aluminum tripod for years, I discovered Gitzo's GT-3540LS 6X Carbon Fiber!! It's abilty to shrink to about 20", float under 4 ponuds and disappear into my packpack, hats off to Gitzo!!

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540LS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
I taken it out several times and have yet to be disappointed. My pics are much sharper now than with the old Manfrotto I was using. I had buyers remorse after I clicked to finalize my order, but after putting my hands on this thing I can say it was worth every penny.

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540LS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
Got this to use with reasonable size glass, 300 f2.8, it is fitted with the large RRS ballhead (which is brillant). Application is mostly wildlife.
I agonized on deciding between 3 and 4 sections. I went for 4 in hope to make it more portable. In handsight, the 4 sections tripod is still huge and is a little slower to setup, so there is not much of a gain there for me. It is very stable though and I dont see much of a drawback there, making it ideal for using with the above glass. More so that the GT2530, which is smaller but 3 sections tripod.
Another great feature is the lack of center column, it can be used very close to ground, great of short focal landscape too.
Great product. Go for the 3 sections, hence the 4 stars.

Fantastic set of legs, wish I have just spent the money the first time instead of trying to go for something cheaper.

Comments about Gitzo GT-3540LS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
Before purchasing this tripod from B&H I lugged around aluminum Giottos model and was getting tired of the weight. The 3540LS while not quite half the weight of the Giottos, feels like it!! I don’t mind carrying it around at all. It is very sturdy and quick to set up. The locks on the legs have been problem free and only require 1/4 turn to lock and unlock. It is an expensive tripod (more than the Giottos carbon equivalent) but I feel it was worth the extra price.
Comments about Gitzo GT-3540LS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
A fantastic tripod. Light, rugged, and rock solid. Quick to set up and and take down. What more needs to be said.
