Walkstool is a unique company making an even more unique and extremely useful product. The Walkstool Comfort 45 L is born of fine Swedish engineering and provides a portable posterior platform - in other words, a seat for all occasions. Whereas a folding chair or stool is nothing new, this Walkstool's clever design makes it stand out from the rest. The two primary issues Walkstool's designers focused on were compact size and load strength and the final product reflects their careful engineering and dedication.
The primary benefit of the Walkstool is the prevention of back strain or fatigue while keeping a person elevated to a comfortable height. This is useful for sports, event, and press photographers who spend many hours on their feet, squatting or on their knees. It is also good for campers and other outdoor enthusiasts or simply anyone who needs a seat in a location where a comfortable chair may be hard to come by.
The Walkstool Comfort line features lightweight and ultra-portable stools with two height positions depending on whether the telescoping legs are extended or not. Transportation of these sub-two lbs stools is a breeze, as it collapses into a compact form that can be easily carried in a camera bag, backpack, or tool bag to be taken just about anywhere. The Comfort line improves on the Basic line with a larger seat, different size seat mesh material, and larger rubber feet to prevent the stool legs from getting stuck in the mud.

This is a very useful product. It folds up easily and in a very small size. When opened it can hold 'jumbo' people which is ideal for portraits. Very clever design. I ordered 4 and am very happy that I did.

Will be taking this on a month-long trip to India, where we will be doing a lot of walking. At my age, that means doing some resting. In many places in India, there is only the ground to sit on, so this lightweight, sturdy stool will be a clean and comfortable alternative.

Perfect compromise of weight (easy to carry with you) and comfort (it's not a lazy boy recliner) make this a great grab on the way out the door to keep your pants dry (no more wet kneecaps and soggy bottoms) and give you a lower shooting angle than standing or stooping.

Well built, lightweight, readily portable, and reasonably comfortable. I used it at a half-Ironman to take pictures of high-speed cyclists. The triangle seat allowed me to rotate and pan the cyclists while they went by at 30-40 mph.

I use this product for photographing outdoors, and have ended up using it for various projects. It seems like anytime I have to crouch down for a period of time, I want to have this stool with me. It fits in or straps on to my carry-on, camera case, and even my motorcycle.

Comments about Walkstool Comfort 45 Large Folding Stool:
I weigh 400 pounds, exactly. If this thing could hold my weight, I was sure it would be uncomfortable. Happily, I was wrong on both accounts.
I wanted something to sit behind a small tripod for both nature photography, and impromptu video interviews in coffee shops, but I use it everywhere.
It's light and the bag has a strap attached to it. When I pull the stool out, I just sling the empty bag back over my shoulder until I'm ready to go. The bag rolls up into a small hand sized bundle so you could just a easily put it in your coat or pants pocket, as well.
The only thing that might be a problem is if your hip bones are landing directly on the top end of the two back legs. I moved forward and the problem was solved, but you might want to bring a thin pad or fold your jacket up underneath yourself if it's a problem. Otherwise I can't think of a way that anyone would be unhappy with this purchase.
Another thing you might want to check before you decide which one to get...
I actually ordered the smaller model (the 18" Large) by accident, but was pleasantly surprised to discover that if I'd ordered the next size up, I would have been sorry. After I got it, I measured from my hardwood floor to the inside crease on the back of my knee it was exactly 18". My legs are short so I'm glad this accident happened, otherwise I would have had to send it back.
Hope this helps someone in making up their mind, all of the comments people make sure do help me.

This is a well-constructed stool! It handled my 250 pounds with no problems on a recent weekend photoshoot. It folds down to a very small package, so you can hang it off your backpack, camera bag or belt. The seat area is large enough to feel comfortable.

Comments about Walkstool Comfort 45 Large Folding Stool:
Easy to use, fairly comfortable. I have back troubles and can't stand or walk for too long at a time. This is perfect for taking breaks while walking or birding or attending festivals. And its so lightweight and compact it's easy to carry around. A little slower to "set-up" than some competititors but makes up for it by being more comfortable.

Why sit in the dirt, snow, or a cold rock? Those hours in the hide or outside waiting for the right shot are just that little more bearable with this easy folding stool, that easily straps to your kit bag or backpack.

Use the stool when walking/hiking and making photos. It is lightweight and easy to set up and pack away. Carry strap and case are easy to hang from tripod when not in use. Probably should have purchased the taller stool.

Comments about Walkstool Comfort 45 Large Folding Stool:
I took this stool to Ecuador on a bird tour. It was quite sturdy and much better made than the PackSeat stool I had bought previously for Costa Rica. The way the legs collapse into themselves really works well.
My only criticism is that though it claims the feet won't sink into mud, they do. I ended up with three muddy feet on one outing and I had to put it into the bag feet first to keep from getting the mud on me.
Generally an excellent product. I wouldn't recommend any other stool.
